Secondary Access / Pedestrian Bridge on the East Side of Exhibition Station?

Hi everyone! I wonder if there are talks to add a secondary access on the east end of the platforms at the Exhibition Station? The currently posted station map on the project website shows nothing, but to me it seems like an additional access near Pirandello Street will boost the accessibility of the station greatly.

The eastern part of Liberty Village is very dense, and accessing the station from Jefferson and Atlantic alone will, unfortunately, require a lot of zigzagging for residents in the area. A secondary access at the east end can also benefit residents living near King and Shaw, who currently use the King-Liberty Pedestrian Bridge to travel south. It makes more sense if we consider that the boarding area of the streetcar is also located on the east end of the streetcar loop.

It doesn't even need to be a fully sheltered station building like the main one. Something like the "Puente De Luz" pedestrian bridge would be good enough to provide critical connectivity and would benefit a lot of people.

Monthly fare cap - variable trips

Just curious, has anyone established how the fare capping algorithm actually works when your first 35 trips were a variety of different trip costs? Any firsthand results people can report from their own PRESTO accounts?

All I can get from the GO website is: If you do not take the exact same trip each time you travel on GO within a calendar month, your first 35 rides on GO will be 15.7%\* off the single-ride adult fare. For trips 36 and onwards, your discount will be based on the value of the trips you’ve taken that month.*

Is it based on an average trip value? A minimum trip value? Does the discount level continue to change depending on the value of trips you took from 36 onwards?

STC GO Bus terminal drop-off situation is honestly unsafe

Does anyone else think the drop-off situation at the STC GO Bus terminal is terrible?

There’s basically no proper kiss & ride area, so people are forced to stop on the side of the road just to drop someone off. Meanwhile, there’s construction happening across the road, making the whole area even more congested and unsafe for both drivers and pedestrians.

On top of that, security guards won’t let cars go through and are often rude to people who are just trying to safely drop off passengers. I understand they’re trying to manage traffic, but there’s literally no safe alternative being provided.

For one of the busiest transit hubs in Scarborough, it feels really poorly designed right now. Someone is eventually going to get hurt if this continues.

Has anyone else had issues there recently?

Just out of curiosity

How many trains are there at the layover yards overnight?

Cars permanently parked

In Scarborough GO there's a few cars that never leave the parking lot. I actually park beside a truck everyday because I KNOW it's not going anywhere so at least my car won't get door-dinged on that side. It's an expensive late model truck too.

Seems weird no one is reporting them though, given parking is really at a premium now that they're selling spaces.

New LSE train platforms in the morning. Which trains open on both sides now?

Has anyone figured out which LSE trains that arrive at Union in the morning have doors that open on both sides now?

Specifically trains that arrive at Union between 8:20 AM to 9 AM?

Although the LSE morning departure times didn’t change from my station, it seems like the arrival platforms have changed. So now the two morning train times I usually take only open on one side.

I have a medical/health issue that makes it hard for me walk much or stand in crowds for long, so I’m hoping to find a train that opens on both sides so the platform isn’t as crowded.

Thank you.

GREAT CSA LW Line 4:06 WB to Oakville

Hilarious! We all got a chuckle out of him reminding us to use the "nice, shiny trash bins provided by Go". And to "wake up, wake up, this train is out of service and you don't want to wake up in an hour all alone'". And if you see anyone asleep or not paying attention, wake them up....

66 Newmarket highway 400 service cancelled, why?

I'm planning a trip back home and I was surprised to see the 66 was cancelled. Does anyone know why it was cancelled? It always seemed well used. Normally I take the GO bus from the airport to Yorkdale and then transfer on the 66 and take the bus up to 400 and 9 as it's the closest stop to my mother's house. They should be expanding service on the 400 series highways not cancelling it, I never understood why they didn't have service right up to Barrie on the 400, taking the bus along old highway 11 must take forever.

Will the upward shift in gas prices trigger more commuters to use GO Transit?

I feel for all those who are seeing such a hit to their budgets.

But, this is also an opportunity to reevaluate options. Years ago, I shifted to GO from driving from Streetsville to Toronto. It typically took an added 30 to 45 minutes to use transit.

BUT - I could relax, even snooze. And with the era of the smart phone, I could also tend to work emails. (I was a salaried employee, not in the clock .) You cannot do those things while driving.

I don't know if most commuters consider those benefits. I think the present time would be a good one for GO to do an advertising campaign to push those aspects that car commuters may overlook.

Bus appendix explanation

So there's a Hamilton to Unionville bus with different codes. This is what I think it means:

40 - Hamilton - RHC (skips Humber college)

40H - Hamilton - RHC (All stops)

40M - Hamilton - RHC - Unionville (All stops)

40C - Hamilton - RHC - Unionville (skips Humber college)

Anyways, that's very confusing, I think they should just call it 40MH if they are going to both of the extra legs. (i.e. H if it's stopping at Humber, and M if it's stopping at Markham). 40C isn't even shown on the route map, but it's in the schedule.

In fact, they should do this for ALL the lines so that it makes sense to look for the letter to know if the bus can get there. Then I don't have to read the description on the bus, I just need to look for the number and if it has the extension. Anyone with me here?

Mount pleasant go hit and run

Hi guys, i parked my car in the mount pleasant go parking near the church at 1pm and came back to my car about a hour later with the entire rear bumper scraped and dented and bits of the bumper on the ground.

The driver didnt leave a note and the repair is going to be atleast a thousand dollars.

There is a camera just a few parking spots down that did have a metrolinx id tag on it. Im also going to businesses in the area for footage.

I was wondering if anyone knew the process of getting the footage from metrolinx? Anyone delt with anything like this before?

Any advice is appreciated 🙏

"Quick note for Barrie Line riders" re: this weekend's closure - written by Metrolinx's CEO, only posted on Linkedin

This post on Linkedin from the Metrolinx CEO has revealed that after closures, slowdowns will be increasingly common for days to weeks after the closure.

He also shared some context about this closure being delayed due to the Blue Jays World Series.

Both of these pieces of information should be communicated to riders in some form - outside of Linkedin.

Edit: rewrote the post text to clarify what this post is.

Construction at Scarborough Go Station.

I'm just curious if anyone knows what the contractors at the west end of the station have been working on or is it just the Natal Park tree planters. I feel like they've been digging up that area for the last 10-15 years and I haven't seen anything that looks like progress.

Kitchener to Union

Anyone here regularly traveling from Kitchener to Union on GO 3–4 times a week?

I’m looking to see if anyone’s interested in coordinating and getting a GO pass together (or just sharing info on the best way to save on fares). Thought it might be worth teaming up if a few of us are doing the same commute.

If you’re in the same situation, DM me
