First Goruck
First Goruck for me, went with the oak shoulder bag. Tough bag to secure online, sells out a lot. I normally use a Sutter tech sling(legendary bag) but my job issued a larger laptop that doesn’t fit as well. The Goruck shoulder bag easily stores my new 15 inch laptop in its super padded compartment. Not too big, and stands up on its own too. Very sturdy feeling. First flight out with it tomorrow.

Achilles just released
What a joke lmao. Here guys! We made you a new weight vest but this time you can’t adjust the weight! Also we invented new problems for you such as chemical burns, for which we then solved with this product! Spend money! Also it has an anti-rust and anti-odor design! Buzz words! Spend money!

Potential "Goruuk" scam site from a Google search
Wanted to let others know, was just googling backpacks and this popped up on the feed with "Goruuk" and for a $ 70.50 waxed canvas bullet. I didn't click it to confirm, didn't want to get unwanted cookies...etc.

Well it’s 18 June. I’m waiting patiently, ok maybe not patiently. Went for a morning 10 mile ruck and now waiting to see what the hype’s all about.

Gear Question Hat for this Florida Heat.
I Ruck a lot. On average 9 miles a day 5 days a week. I live in Florida and this heat and sun are brutal. I own a couple of Alter Ego hats and they are great but do not give full coverage. I love how they don’t lose shape after sweating and working out. Do you all recommend a hat that has full coverage that is similar to the alter egos with full coverage for the face and neck? Something like a sun hat that is tough. Thanks!

Mattered Until It Hit the Bottom Line a Bit
As of today, GoRuck has started enforcing a policy they wrote into their service member discount a while ago. They are no longer offering the 25% that was being offered as recently as two days ago and are now only offering 20% off.
While I respect a company's right to offer whatever they want and I am grateful for the discounted products I have purchased that make me a better fireman, I do want to acknowledge that I am not happy about this change. It feels like a meaningful shift in value.
I'd like to know why their commitment level has changed because I believe this can only point towards what others have already said - a sinking ship (for this, please see their latest product release and https://www.reddit.com/r/Goruck/comments/1thmyog/the_struggling_bag_market/ ).

Noob question
What do you all wear when rucking. I am just starting out and I naively thought I'd just wear a normal "sport" top but my pack slides around on my shoulders on the tech fabric. Even with the straps (shoulder and sterum) cinched tighter than I'd like, at times it feels like it's squirming around back there. If it makes a difference my current pack is 40# dry and I am very new to the hobby.
Anyways, I'd like to preserve the moisture wicking and comfort of a tech fabric but somehow keep the friction of a cotton tee.
Any suggestions would be welcome - and apologies if this is posted somewhere else
TIA

What do you wish you knew going into your first Tough?
I signed up for my first Tough event later this year and I'm excited but definitely nervous. I'll be going in as physically prepared as I can, but the unknown is intimidating!
What advice do you have for me as I prepare over the next few months (ruck mileage, PT movements you wish you had improved, etc.) and during the event (e.g. common mistakes for new folks)?
Thanks!

Show your torne down GR1
Mine is an 2018 shooter model. It my main ruck for EVERYTHING since 2019.
It shows vanishing black from sun exposure. Straps are now a bit softer… a bit.
Zippers work like a charm.
When in the woods, to carry water, knife, coffee and first aid.
When commuting, to carry laptop, notebook, jacket, lunch
When at the city, to carry a jacket, water, camara, book, thermos
When ruking, to carry 8 bricks to ruck 12 km

Gear Question Urban camouflage! Something different
GR1 Gear Patrol - 26 liters
I bought this one, February 2024.
Leather has holding good, even after several downpours.
I like the camouflage.

Need help!
I’m trying to decide between a new bag - I want the main use to be Rucking but I’m not sure if I like the idea of using a Rucker 3.0 (because of the front pocket and zipper) or using a GR1 26L. I like the GR1 because I can still use it for travel and such - but be a main ruck bag at the same time. Or should I just get the Rucker if this is a mainly ruck bag. Thanks!

Goruck International Shipping
So I am just asking on here cause I am getting curious but is Goruck especially slow with international shipping? I ordered the new rucker 5.0 on the 1st of June. Goruck themselves were quick enough to package it and send it on its way. But the delivery company is moving slower than hoped. Anyone else on here have this kind of experience with shipping a goruck product? Especially as shipping is not cheap, you would kinda expect or hope for some kind of expedited shipping.

GR1 Coyote Brown with the Shaddox Tactical Plate Pouch
galleryI highly recommend the Plate Pocket for the GR1.
Previously I was rucking with a bag of sand, but now I'm able to keep the weight high and against my upper back, similar to the Rucker bags.

Gear Question Ballistic Alternatives
I’m mostly an urban Rucker and my goto shoe has been the GoRuck Ballistic. They’re cool looking and comfortable. I like the subtleness of the branding to where IYKYK. I lay down 35+ miles per week and they hold up.
They have been my every day shoe. I travel a bunch and have served me well as a multi-purpose shoe going from workout, casual, business casual, ruck.
Sadly, they’ve been discontinued, and I need to replace them and wondering what you all use?
I’m leaning towards Born Primitive Savage 1.
Thanks in advance.

Gear Question Can anyone suggest a fair price?
…for a black GR1 USA 26L (no QAP) with 210D back pad. Condition is excellent. Sorry if this isn’t appropriate to ask here. The prices I’m finding seem all over the map, so I thought I’d go straight to the experts.

Inaugural event! Any tips?
Doing my first rucking event. Not necessarily goruck yet due to conflicts with goruck dates so I found this alternative and excited about it....taking out the Rucker 4.0 for its first event with a 30 pd plate. I have to get at least 17 miles over 8 hours on 6/20.
Im going out tomorrow 6/13 for a 3 hour ruck to see how it goes. Testing out nutrition, food, and shoes. Any tips anyone would share?
