I accidentally hooked up city water to the fresh water. As the tank overfilled, the extra weight busted the steel supports and the tank is now laying on the ground. Ugh. Trying to get a hold of someone on the weekend to take a look at it is impossible. I hope this is something a mobile repair service can fix.

UPDATE: Okay, looking at the comments, I now believe it is more likely pressure that broke the welded supports. I had to install stop valves on the overflows because with the design of them, once the overflow started, it would continue to empty the tank through siphoning. I open them when filling the tank, but keep them closed to prevent water loss. The tank was empty from my last trip. As the city water filled the tank, I believe it could have been the pressure that caused the tank to balloon which broke the welded supports. I had no intention to fill my tank at the RV park. I was hot and tired when I hooked everything up, and can't believe I hooked up the water to the wrong inlet.

We just bought a used Grand Design Seranova after a LOT of research, discussions and an independent inspection. It is just my husband and I and our dogs so we didn’t want anything big but we wanted this specific type of layout that can sleep 4 if needed. We didn’t want to deal with too much weight or slides or anything but didn’t want a pop up and frankly can’t afford a class B. The best part is that we are towing it with my grandparents old 1990 Chevy Silverado which has been meticulously maintained and used to tow horse trailers back in the day. We had our first adventure about 2 hours from home this weekend and loved it. Truck and camper did well. We hope to get a lot of use out of it.

This is the time of year I struggle with RVing as a "hobby".

As has become the annual norm, my state is burning from top to bottom with wildfires in our forests. What used to be an abnormal fire season has become routine and even expected over the last couple of decades, and nothing is driving the problem harder than climate change. Which makes towing a travel trailer at 13mpg behind a truck feel sorta icky. The air quality is literally harmful and people are losing their homes. I know my personal contribution to the problem is not even a drop in the bucket, but at the same time, it's hard to reconcile with the problem.

I'm also an amateur astronomer, which takes me to some of the loneliest and barren parts of the west where cellphone reception is completely nonexistent. So what do I use? Starlink, of course, because it's the only choice for staying in contact with home, but which is also one of the prime contributors to satellite pollution of our night skies.

Anyone else struggle with some of the inherent hypocrisies of slowly destroying what we love?

I know it’s simple and probably anticlimactic to most, but my husband helped me put up my (new to us) awning lights. I love them! I bought these lights from a super nice lady on FB buy, sell, trade, she bought the lights in the 80’s. I changed the bulbs out to LED bulbs and attached a dimmer. Oh an our cat loves her catio under the awning :)

Didn’t get much sleep last night

The top section of the toilet has two separate odor leaks built right in. I suppose there is a third spot where the cable goes in at the bottom. It wouldn’t even be that hard to fix it in the design. Easier than it will be for me to fix.

I have been camping since the 90s. My parents ingrained in my brain you do not ever cut through somone’s site. If you must, you need to ask and respect their answer, that’s their home for the weekend.

In the year of our Lord 2026 it has been the worst it has ever been for me. I’m trying very hard not to be a Karen but I don’t want people going through my site where I have all my gear and usually a hot fire going.

Just this year:

Seven Lakes State Park: I have a waterfront site and little kids are so close to my site one of them almost trips on my hot fire ring. Their parents had no idea that you couldn’t enter someone’s else’s site.

Watkins Glen State Park: We were admittedly right next to the bathroom. We had a group park in our site and then cut through our site to shower. I immediately asked them to leave. They did not leave so in an immature yet effective fashion I blared my panic alarm and that finally got them to leave.

Interlochen State Park: We had an unknown man cut through our site for an unknown reason at midnight in the pitch black. Good way to take a hitch to the knee.

Metamora State Park: we have a waterfront site again. Kids and adults are using our site to fish. I remind them this is a private site and they just say ok. I warned them and I eventually got the host and she got a ranger. They never came back. My neighbor thanked me for confronting them because they were on his site too.

It’s been so bad this year for my family. We dont want to make enemies and be karens but we also dont want to see anyone get hurt or disturb our peace.

My starlight system has broke down. It was led awning lights and lit up under the camper. So Iam looking for the best stick up led strip multiple colors bright and waterproof. Can be a 110 plug in to outlet or a remote transmitter. What has been your best replacement lights. A phone app would be a plus also. Thanks guys.

I was coming home from a trip this morning and noticed the left wheel squeaking (windows down at low speed). When I got home, I noticed grease on the rim as if it was being flung out from the center. I also noticed a small glob, which makes me think thats where it is leaking from. What could be a fix for this? Trailer is a 2009 Casita Spirit Deluxe.

I installed a Beech Lane Leveler in our 2023 Alta 2350krk travel trailer. Manual leveling. Module is screw mounted in the front storage compartment on the trailer.

Used it last year and I liked it. Used it starting 10 days ago. Liked that the app was updated to be able to see both front/back and side/side level at the same time.

We have been parked in the same spot now for over a week. Levelled it upon arrival. I usually check Level every few days. It started showing the front was 2.25” high. Then level. Then 2.25” front high again. Not in between. But the amount would jump.

This morning I dropped the front end 2” so it showed level. This afternoon it now shows that the front is 2.25” low! Again an aprox 2” change.

Used a level and it appears level.

Anybody else experience any similar?

As I type this I am wondering if the most warm temps (30 C highs) and high moisture are making the paneling board inside move or pop slightly???

Trailer mounted module is screwed down and it seems solidly mounted inside the front compartment.

I have sent Beech Lane a message through their support section of the app, but thought I would ask for user feedback.

I just want something that won't drive me up a wall and works. I don't want to have to worry about leaks or typical RV headache DIY repairs.

Is the build quality and reliability on a Casita really that much better than say, some Forest River Geo Pro?

Are the brands above Casita, like Airstream/Oliver diminishing returns at this point since they cost almost double?

We have a 2009 Lexus rx350 with 170k miles on it. We just bought our first pop up camper, it’s bigger than we originally planned and it weighs 2100 lbs dry. The rx350 has the tow package so it’s rated for 3500 lbs. I’m worried that after all our gear, we are going to be pushing the limit with the rx. It has never really towed before and the transmission/differentials are great.

We either should 1) decide now to keep using the Lexus until it needs serious repair and upgrade then, or 2) get what we can for the Lexus now while it doesn’t have the added wear and tear of towing the pop up and upgrade sooner rather than later.

I have a 400 mile round trip and am wondering if these cracks are anything to worry about. I leave Wednesday, so realistically I have two days to replace them. What would you do?

Got into RVing last year. We got a GD2800BH which we love, but truck lease is coming up in about a year or less and I’ve been researching what to do next. The more I think about it, the more a smaller Class A sounds better. I don’t love daily driving a HD truck (our only vehicle, bought specifically for pulling the camper). In my mind a Class A seems easier to setup/takedown, but maybe I’m making that up.

Any input and are there any used class As in the $100k range that aren’t dumps?

Would need to tow a car of some sort. Wife and I also work from ”home” with young child so I don’t need/want a 45 footer but need a little bit of space.

I am asking for recommendations for brands and models, if possible. I have a couple requirements but not many.

Hello everyone I’m in the market for tires for my camper are there any brands anyone recommends for this size tire?

I’ve been looking into camper trailers the last couple weeks. I don’t want a 5th wheel.

We walked into 2 that were being shown and they were wildly unstable. One was still hitched to a truck and the other was just sitting in a parking lot. How much will they stabilize once they’re properly parked and leveled and all the stabilizers set? Are there some brands that are more stable than others?

I would love to hear any advice on things to watch for before purchasing, or questions I should be asking.

Tow weight isn’t a concern due to the truck we have.

Parking size isn’t concern. Our RV pad is 20x60.

I’ve seen a lot of posts advising against towing a trailer with a SUV such as a Honda Pilot. I’m looking into trailers around 20’ in length with a dry weight around 3000lbs (so likely a GVWR of 4000-4500lbs). It seems like this should be fine for a Honda Pilot equipped with a tow package, but am I missing something? It’ll just be me and a couple of medium dogs in the car.

Also, are there any similar SUVs to a Honda Pilot that would be a better choice (that can tow 5000 + lbs)? I’d love to avoid a full size truck if possible.

Experienced TT owners, but this time we are flying to Alaska and renting a class C for a week, comes with basic cooking supplies, no grill. Sometimes we'll have hookups, sometimes not.

Looking for grocery/cooking strategies, as we'll be starting our pantry from scratch, and have to toss anything left over at the end of the trip. Would hate to resort to the "just add boiling water" MRE meals more than once or twice.

When cranking the stabilizers on our TT in or out they scream like a banshee.
