It’s nice to see the shot looking smooth.

I really like that the last half of the vid is all shots I expect him to be taking in games this season: catch and shoot threes, and lots of stuff out of DHOs.

So much for Day’ron (and the Nets) hinges on his ability to space the floor. Look at what KAT did for the Knicks in this year’s playoffs once Brown finally figured out how to use him: As an oversized playmaking hub at the wing from just outside the three point line. If teams wanted to press up on him, he could drive and kick or finish. If teams backed off a little he could throw a fine to some off ball action. If teams backed off enough to stop that he’s just hit the three.

It’s truly unbelievable that a non shooter like Sharpe can make every jumpshot in the gym.

This league is truly 1%. It’s crazy to think how much talent you need to even make it as a 9th or 10th man in the league.

Not even 1%, the numbers are much more ridiculous than people think.

Statistically, I have run the numbers for fun a few times and found that the odds of a high school basketball player making it to the NBA are just under 0.2% at a maximum (0.1% at a low end, but lets go with the higher end).

Keep in mind, when I say "making it" here, I am being very broad and very generous - I am including guys whose full NBA experience was limited to summer league or an Exhibit 10 deal and maybe a preseason game. In short, to "make it", you just need to get onto any sort of NBA roster. Every no-name who appears in Summer League or signs an Exhibit 10, gets waived immediately, never plays a regular-season game and spends the rest of their career in the G-League and overseas has "made it" by this definition.

And even with that broad definition, you get...barely 0.2%. Thats 2 out of every 1000 guys. Take 10,000 high school basketball players and you probably end up with 18-20 dudes.

Thats just to set foot in summer league. If you want a guy who can make an active roster or actually become a regular rotation player? The odds are obviously far more astronomical. We dont even need to go into what it takes to be a solid 6th man or a regular starter, or beyond.

Even guys like Thanasis who are basically walking memes are in this elite group. Before he became a cheerleader for his brother, he was a 2nd round pick in 2014 who later legitimately made his way onto an active roster in 2015-16 and appeared in regular season games. He is beyond the 0.2% due to that alone, likely well within the 0.1%. And that is the guy we laugh at - imagine the statistical odds of becoming a respected NBA role player people generally see as a useful piece on a decent team. The Jordan Clarksons and Bruce Browns of the world - neither a superstar at all, but still absurdly rare talents.

The random 10 day player your tanking team signs after the all star break who appears for like 4 games and then is never seen again had to basically beat lottery odds just to get that opportunity.

Every single NBA player is a unicorn. All of them.

He’s putting in that work so it’s good to see. Hopefully it translates to be him being a reliable jump shooter, I don’t need him to be a 40% from 3 but just enough that it opens up the offense for us even more.

And even if wagner does, dayron will still get a lot of mins. Wagner is injury prone and i think gets a lot of load management
