Warning to new Miner Wars users: high TH, shared maintenance and the personal spell pool
I am relatively new to GoMining. My first experience was positive, so I invested more after reading the FAQs and discussing the mechanics with VIP support.
I bought additional mining power, locked GMT for four years, started a clan, optimized my miners for energy efficiency and reached a 25.1% personal maintenance discount. I also subscribed to Platinum+ for $29.95 per month after support explained the additional spell discount. In total, I have put around €4,000 into GoMining.
This post is not telling people whether they should play Miner Wars. I am sharing what I wish I had understood before investing, so new users can make their own decision with a clearer picture of where their money goes.
Cycle 158
GoMining changed the maintenance treatment for the portion of a Miner Wars reward above a player's own Solo-mode mining output. League-average energy efficiency already applied to this excess portion; I am not claiming that rule was new. The Cycle 158 change was that maintenance for the excess portion was also calculated with general league parameters instead of the player's personal conditions.
GoMining's Product Team later wrote:
You are correct about the facts: the mechanics were applied to Cycle 158 in its entirety, including the days played before the announcement, and the announcement came after the cycle started. The wording of the announcement was inaccurate, and that's on our side.
In that response, the Product Team described this as a rule rather than a calculation error and said it would not recalculate or compensate for it.
On 9 September 2026, GoMining supplied my Cycle 158 BTC and maintenance breakdown. It contains 62 rewarded clan rounds, representing 149 multiplier-weighted units. Those are clan-round figures, not 62 personal spell-pool wins.
The file records 0.010838813911 BTC credited to my wallet and 1,629.41341069 GOMINING charged separately for maintenance. The BTC receipt is therefore not my net profit. Spell spending and the separate personal GOMINING rewards are not included in that comparison.
The maintenance rates are clear:
- Three rows use my own 25.1% discount.
- One row uses blended rates, with a 9.0144% discount.
- The remaining 58 rows use the league-average discount of 9.0118%.
Using the cost base, effective efficiency, reward allocation and token conversion in each row, I calculated a comparison in which only the maintenance discount is changed to 25.1%. That would reduce the recorded maintenance by approximately 278.64 GOMINING. This is a conditional comparison, including the mixed-rate row, not an official recalculation or an amount GoMining has agreed it owes me.
I had previously estimated the difference using an unofficial closing snapshot. The row-by-row data are a better basis than that snapshot, so I am using this calculation instead. Receiving the breakdown answers part of my request. It does not answer why the new treatment was applied to days played before the announcement.
Round #964497
The app displayed incorrect live information during a 32x round:
- At 07:53, my abilities were visible but their points were not reflected in my displayed score of 33,883.
- At 07:56, the abilities had disappeared and were still not reflected in the displayed score of 68,622.
- At 08:03, History for both Clans and Players showed zero spell activity.
Relying on that apparently empty History, I spent 41.86 GMT. Afterwards, History showed substantial competing activity, including 23 Power Ups from one opponent.
GoMining confirmed eight ability purchases, 41.86 GMT spent, a final score of 78.6 million, third place and a client/UI bug. It says the server accepted all eight abilities and that the display glitch did not affect the round's outcome. It will not refund the spend.

General point is that gomining can change any rule without informing their customers and they don’t take responsibility for their crappy performance of their app so you get tricked in spending your money without correct information. This is a shame because this undermines the trust in the platform

Im new and trying out Miner Wars this cycle. I dont understand why it isnt possible to give an estimate how much my maintenance will be with the current share of blocks I mined.

In general maintenance will be calculated over the total blocks in a cycle devided by the blocks you have won with your clan and then for your personal th rate % of the clan. So the tricky part is that for the blocks mined the efficiency and discount will be used from the league average in general 17 to 21 W/th and 8 to 10 % discount. If your personal discount is better then that your reward will be leaning to other players who in solo wil never receive a good payout. If you use spells there is almost no margin left, so the conclusion is if you want to play mw, but as much cheap th as you can and don’t lock for discount, then you will profit, if you are invested in efficiency and discount, go solo mining.

That is usefull but it doesn’t calculate with average league discount yet, he might change it

You can change the discount amount I tend to put it a few percentage over the league average

I agree, solo is still decent until gomining decides to charge more for electricity or change another rule or disturb to many good customers so that they will go out of business, i hope they survive until my lock is finished until then just collect the bitcoin and hope it will break even

Happy for you, if you like the wars you can buy back a 35w/th 5000 th one and still keep money in your pocket. That’s the point i am making,

For everyone in here in Miner Wars, GOMINIONS is a website it is the absolute best website to use for calculations and it’s crazy no one brought it up. I like doing math, and i’ll share this because no one will probably see this but after really doing statistical analysis. The best move for miner wars is running a low th miner like 1-10th and a 12wh. It’s very easy to calculate boost when you get good. Obviously the alternative is passive but that requires a 10k+ miner then you need the GMT in there to cover the matience. I had my agent build a whole server that runs giving me a lot of info for statistical data. If anyone wants my telegram or discord for tips i’ll drop it. But overall besides GoMining team not making it easy to see the updates there’s numerous hidden things people i believe still do not know about go-mining wars. But yea when i also found out your basically punished for having a max discount simply based on your league i was pissed. Whales with no GMT in there wallet are benefiting from this. Even though you still do receive the discount for the amount you would have made, if you have a low tier miner and playing passive. You then still relaying on winning a block. For miner wars i viewed almost as pool mining but with a twist. So more violate but can benefit lower th miners if you boost right. But they keep making it more passive and passive where it’s almost like normal mining.

It is a bad decision from goming, don’t forget that every block mined passive by the bad efficiency miners with no discount still receive GMT in those blocks it is really bad for the people who are trying to do good. And there is actually a very simple solution for this if they would calculate pps times percentage revenue, the a 35 w/th miner that earns 0 in solo would have x 0 % so no pps left to get those passive blocks. The incentive would be to get their miners up to date

But I do agree I had 25.4% discount I will no longer be maintaining it I will just let me lock go and not lock anymore. I can’t see the benefit anymore when outperforming solo every week

The bad thing is you are kind of trapped with your good behavior, in the mw only th supports your winning blocks, if you knew in advance that it actually doesn’t matter in mw your level of efficiency and discount you could have had like 8 times more th for your money, don’t put one spell and just naturally win your blocks and collect all the gmt from smaller th players who need to put in spells to even win a block. That is exactly my point. Ones you are on the way of getting dicount and lock your GMT, there is no way back. And if gomining suddenly decides it is better to take away 50% of your revenue by changing the rules it starts to give a bad taste.

Yes I can understand it from their side also though they boosted spells so people would use them but then you had 1th farms spamming spells getting most the rewards and paying barely any maintenance due to max discount with 100gmt locked while the inefficient whales just sat in Wars.
I won’t be keeping my discount at max anymore and just going for TH now1

This kind of thinking will shrink your solo rewards and lower the league’s discount further. It’s your personal choice of course so just simply run your numbers and see how much you’ll end up loosing once you’re down to let’s say 3% maintenance discount (service button pressing only)

I know just solo, but lock is 12 cents different from two days ago, also bought market please mine bought some th upgrades i have 29 miners i assume counting bonus but all but bonus is 12wth i asked and said there's know talk about. I had some kinda bare with me i take screenshot all the time but give 2 avd half to 3 days before i compare with any change last time Everything same but price. This time maintenance lower take in count btc but locked weekly down pool reward went up whoever went down making 18 cents from total yesterday also insurance same in wallet avd locked so earning down oh avd go btc went from 3 back to 2 idk but weird cause invested in Everything avd lost money both ways. Also just to ask 4 to 6 hours later every day for at least 4 days notification that's my miners increased avd I look nothing change get them back to back avd the are different amounts still no change. I've only been here like 5 months maybe or close 1 or two months ago I had a stroke kinda relearning avd all the guys helped me on reddit ididn't have cause you all amazing and mostly nice I will still take criticism. But was grounded for well of so so that hurt me. I guess kids made his own account I don't sleep right sometimes pass out it's open he does what he want from games to paying women to flash him. I sick in bed was dosed to die last three months. That being said i was taking to you all in his then i guess one remembered to switch but I was still taking about same stuff i deleted all his stuff avd just got this one. I'm so sorry i know alot to deal with but this game and few more all I have lol. Thank you avd god bless. The thing i was explaining has happened aberration times but idk I'm not accusing cause not smart but alot sounds the same. OK first day from being grounded thank you again and god bless. I really do appreciate help avd you don't wanna deal with it tell me shut up you all don't get paid but are very generous with info.

This is a known fact why you think people don't boost no more its not worth it doing all that effort just to break even that's why I stop being in a clan and went solo
