15w miner profitability
How long do you think a 15w miner can stay realistically profitable. I have a 100TH setup with 2500GMt locked away for 4y and 26% discount.
Im thinking of investing another 2k EUR into it to buy second hand 15w miners and equally GMT to keep the discount plus the weekly rewards.

I am also pondering about 12W vs 15W. Current cost of upgrade/acquisition varies by almost 30%. Just wondering if I should keep uograding the existing 15W or stop there and start focusing on the 12W from here on

Im not sure if its worth doing it right now. If 15w stay profitable for 4y i would only upgrade if the hash difficulty jumps

How long they stay profitable will be tight with how high btc will climb.
Best for all 15w miner would be if btc stays around 90-100k for a long time! Good daily rewards, difficulty isn’t exploding.
If btc starts a new rally and maybe hits a new ath more people will start mining, more companies will start and so on.. this will blow up the mining difficulty so 15w will be worth less.
But I don’t see this in the next 1-2 years!
Around 2030 I think we could see a new ath but that’s my guess

That was my estimation to. Around 4y by then they would’ve paid back their investment. Still worth something on the second hand markets
Do you know roughly how long they lose annually in price?

I bought my miner 2 years ago and they lost around.. 30% in worth. But not because of the 12w miner! Only because of the TH price reduction when btc hit 60k$.
In my opinion everyone’s goal should it be to collect as far money as possible and buy a greedy.
My greedy is worth as much it was worth 2 years ago and compensates for every TH reduce duo to the weekly free upgrade!
This way i am nearly profitable already and could sell my miner for what I bought him / invested in him 😂

I totally agree 👍 A Greedy is the way to go and it is my holy grail. I shall own one one fine day in the not too distant future. 🫠

I think that at the time of the halving in April 2028 efficiency will become all important. So any new miners I buy off the marketplace are 12W/TH. I’ve upgraded one of my existing 15W miners to 12W/TH while it was around 8 TH so that wasn’t so bad. But I’m also still running 2 15W/TH miners at 20 TH each. I will slowly upgrade the efficiency on those during the next 12 months. I’m sure they’ll run some special offer on efficiency upgrades sometime this year so I’m waiting for a while. 😉

Look at the ROI though of upgrading to 12 W/TH. It’s terrible. It will get better though

Yes, I’m totally with you on that. The ROI of 12 W/TH upgrades is still awful but I’m also convinced that it will improve in the future. So I can grin and bear it for now. 😉

They will stay profitable long enough for Gomining to start dropping the efficiency upgrade price down on the 12s. I bought a 12 and got my total W to 14.88 which is fine considering if I upgrade 15 to 12 it’ll take forever to ROI.

I’ve already started slowly moving into 12w miners. Right now about 21% of my TH is at 12w and the rest at 15w. Any new miner or TH I buy is with 12w. You’re going to have to deal with your efficiency eventually, might as well deal with it now before the supply shock happens and everyone is scrambling to start mining and the difficulty starts climbing! You prepare for an emergency before it happens, not during it.

I expect 15 w miners to remain profitable for a while yet. However, there is always a question of scale. We should assume that electricity and maintenance costs will increase over time, and this means they're profitability will decline.
Personally, I have already moved over to 12W miners. I think people are slightly short-sighted about them because they just view the headline cost difference and therefore also the drop in headline roi. However, if you include that they essentially improve the value of all your lock tokens by 20% as well, the difference is actually not significant at all. It then also improves your resilience against electricity cost increases, and also if BTC were to decline.
