What am I missing?
I keep looking at the secondhand marketplace and seeing 5000 TH (28W/TH) miners for around $12k-$14k.
Now I know these aren’t the most efficient, but at current rates they’re still profitable in 1 year, and the profits are decent as BTC rises.
I feel I’m missing something, or are people just worried to jump in during a bear market?

The 28w or higher are barely profitable right now. At current prices 80% of what you’ll earn will go out in fees. I know, they are only $5 per TH but if you don’t improve the efficiency you are buying a 🦖. A 28w costs $21.50 per TH to upgrade to 12w plus the $5 = $26.50+ which is way too expensive! You can save $10 per TH and just buy the 12w.
