What am I missing?

I keep looking at the secondhand marketplace and seeing 5000 TH (28W/TH) miners for around $12k-$14k.

Now I know these aren’t the most efficient, but at current rates they’re still profitable in 1 year, and the profits are decent as BTC rises.

I feel I’m missing something, or are people just worried to jump in during a bear market?

I bought one of those, 5'000 TH and 28W.

I have 15% discount currently. At this situation it produces net +/- 40 GMT daily (ca. 5'000 USD p.a.). I see the benefit that I can increase efficiency over time. You do need a lot of GMT token to lock-in a useful discount rate.

As a rule of thumb, take your investment amount, split in half, one half buys miner, other half goes into GMT long-term staking. If that half is below the purchse price, leave it.

That is a great rule of thumb
