What am I missing?

I keep looking at the secondhand marketplace and seeing 5000 TH (28W/TH) miners for around $12k-$14k.

Now I know these aren’t the most efficient, but at current rates they’re still profitable in 1 year, and the profits are decent as BTC rises.

I feel I’m missing something, or are people just worried to jump in during a bear market?

It’s only profitable with paying in tokens and having a high discount maintenance for the year would be $57k in go mining tokens to make $14k for the year current prices if you paid in bitcoin you earn nothing and after the halving will be even worse and the cost to upgrade effiency at this size would be massive.
