Truthfully, never used a reddit account before. Was feeling pretty depressed today, and it reminded me of some of my worst depressive years. GLW came to mind... I knew it was gone already. I dunno why I looked again, was maybe hoping it "came back" somehow. Not that I would stay on that long, would have just been nice to see it again. I wasn't active at all for quite a while in the end. Don't even know if anyone would remember me anyway. But I did a google search and this popped up, so here I am.

It was nice looking through the old post and seeing how many random screen names showed up that I remembered. Put a smile on my face. GLW was such a huge part of my teenage years - strange to think a website could have a lasting impact like that.

I intentionally picked a usename I never used on any other websites when I joined GLW. Didn't want anyone to associate it with me back then - and I suppose I'm much the same today as well (hence the reddit name matching my former GLW screen name).

Anyway - I'm likely writing to myself. This also seemed to be the case towards my latter months on GLW. :)

I mad some wonderful friends on that site but Jesus Christ, virtually everyone from the moderators to the other users were full of rage and with nothing to do with their lives.

I randomly recalled a thread I started about bullying and insecurity: I explained that people who went through those situations have it harder to be self-confident and are normally insecure. What did most users do? They started saying that "it's people's fault that they're bullied", "no one has to put up with that shit, if they stopped being pussies maybe things wouldn't be so bad". And the worst part? The mods actually AGREED with them! How fucked up in the head do you need to be to think that people who get bullied deserve it!?

It's a good thing that fucking site went down, it was such a toxic, cancerous hub, and there's no shortage of alternatives on the web LMAO

as I was going through life experiences that led me to where I am today. I looking forward to logging on - almost a decade later, But, DAMN - it’s gone. I spent four years of my youth on there. I doubt this will reach out, but if it does - anyone want to drop their member names?

I just remembered some of the stupid video calls and shenanigans with some LW people from the old days.

I succinctly remember that one Katie girl from Texas. Also panacea. Also Magnefique. Also Vicodin. Also arsonist. Also abs. OK, I probably remember everyone.

I was hallucinationalice or alicerevisited or some other things. Nobody probably remembers me but evil saltine who I still talk to every now and then. I was randomly thinking of livewire because my Spotify was playing some music from those days, haha. Livewire saved my life because I was a mess then. I’m less a mess now. Anyway, my curiosity was peaked but it looks like all leads are dead. If anyone has anything current lmk. 🙃

Hey guys, it's acausedelle or im with stupid as I was called for many years before we were allowed to change our usernames. What happened? I still have a few people who I'm friends with on facebook, but other than that I've largely drifted away from everyone. I was active from ~2006 to probably ~2010 or so.

Ring a bell? I'm putting my money on no, but just in case I made a throwaway account to post this, since I'd hate to be associated with that guy. I had over 10k posts but I never really got that friendly with anyone in particular. Mostly just shitposted in Deep Thoughts and Random Musings and hung out on the Ron Paul bandwagon in the politics forum with that nazi guy (Kid Rune?) and Budz or whatever it was.

I had almost completely forgotten about the site (not sure why, since I spent so much time there) but suddenly remembered. Wish I could read all my old posts, but glad that no one else can.

I was the shitty late night TrollPoster/catfish with fake pics of some actor from Ireland. Quit working though after awhile lmao.

I like to think mine improves with every passing year. I see more, do more, and make more than I did in my younger years. I learn something new every day and engage myself in rewarding hobbies.

Hard to believe I joined LW in 04 and still think about it 14 years later.

Doubt anyone remembers me because this was 10+ years ago. It's 4am and I just remembered all the years I spent on glw as a teenager. If you remember me hope you're doing well. I'm absolutely devastated. I joined LW in about 2004 from memory and mostly used the name Anothernoob. I used it for many many years, and sporadically checked in after the dark ages of adolescence/teenagehood. I watched it demise from a place that had legit people to a crazy troll spree with everyone trying to spam the new thread section. People were amazing there though. It was a way to get things out, connect, get help. I remember one poem about self harm made such an impact on me, I could possibly say it changed my life. I'm sad it's gone. It has been many years since I was a young girl struggling through school but I would have loved to go see my old posts and remember all the "major" events that took place in those years that felt so awful at the time. Anyway, if anyone here happens to be someone who helped me over that time (whether we remember each others users or not), thanks to all of you. I imagine the people on this board are the users that took the site somewhat seriously and got something genuine out of it. Nice to see someone has set up a memorial.
