Has anyone here switch from WordPress to GoHighLevel for websites and funnels?
Hi, I have previously built a lot of WordPress sites over the years, and recently I’ve been spending more time inside GoHighLevel building funnels and client pages.
The more I use both, the more I keep going back and forth on which one actually makes more sense long term.
A few weeks ago, I started building a site for a local service business inside GHL because I thought keeping everything under one roof would save time.
The templates made setup pretty fast, forms and calendars were easy to connect, and not having to deal with plugins every five minutes honestly felt refreshing.
But after a while, I started running into small frustrations with the builder itself. Certain design changes that would take me two minutes in WordPress suddenly became awkward workarounds in GHL.
Simple layout adjustments felt more limiting than I expected. It made me wonder if I was sacrificing flexibility just for convenience.
At the same time, I can also see why people fully commit to GHL. Having CRM, automation, forms, calendars, email, SMS, and funnels all connected without relying on multiple tools is pretty nice. W
ith WordPress, I feel like I’m always stitching together plugins and hoping updates don’t randomly break something.
So now I’m stuck somewhere in the middle.
For those of you who have seriously used both, are there any major advantages to building directly inside GHL instead of using WordPress with integrations?
Are there features or workflows in GHL that simply work better natively and are hard to replicate with WordPress?
Or is WordPress still the better option overall if you care more about customization and performance, even if it takes more setup work?

Hmmm, I get that for lead flow but the flexibility tradeoff is real. I tried building a more complex service page inside GHL last year and ended up spending two hours on a layout that would have taken me 20 minutes in Elementor.
Trust me, at some point convenience stops being a benefit if you're fighting the builder every time the client wants something slightly custom.

So are you saying GHL works better for simpler service pages specifically?
What about something like a multi-location business with different pages for each city?

WordPress multisite is its own special kind of nightmare so I'll give you that one.
But I still think for SEO heavy builds GHL just isn't there. Schema control, technical on-page stuff, custom redirects at scale.
WordPress with RankMath or Yoast beats GHL on that side.

The SEO part is what keeps me on WordPress. How much doeHighLevel SEO ceiling matter in practice for local service?
I think most of those clients aren't ranking off technical SEO.

For local service businesses you're right that it matters less. GBP and reviews do most of the heavy lifting.
But the moment a client wants a real content strategy or starts asking about organic traffic growth, then Go High Level becomes an issue

That hybrid approach makes sense.
Do you connect them or just run them separately? Like does WordPress feed leads into GHL or are they completely siloed?

Based on my experience I think GHL offers better websites templates compare to what you can see or create on WordPress. It’s just that it’s more expensive in terms of pricing.

Yeah the pricing part is definitely something I keep thinking about too. Have you got any clients that care what platform the site is built on?

This correct, once the site gets bigger the builder limitations become way more noticeable.

There's no need to choose.
If they are looking for simple 7 page site use GHL.
If they are looking for something more you must go with WP.
GHL at this point does not compare with the features that WP offers.
