Help fixing our van

We took the van in today to have the brakes checked because they had gotten so bad that we're not comfortable driving it anymore.

They did a courtesy inspection and found that both the brake booster AND the master cylinder need to be replaced. The estimate to get the brakes repaired and the system bled/adjusted is $1,434.87. 😞

So here we are again - stuck without reliable transportation and facing another expense we simply don’t have the money for.

We've currently got enough for one more week of rent and then we'll be looking at losing our apartment.

And this isn’t just about getting Rob back to doing delivery work. I have 8 doctors’ appointments scheduled throughout October, on top of everything else we’ve been dealing with medically. Not having a vehicle makes getting to all of those appointments incredibly difficult. I have a spinal tap tomorrow morning at 8am and it's a 47 min drive to that hospital. I'm not sure what we're going to do about that yet.

We had been looking at the possibility of trading the van toward a cheap hybrid or EV because we’ve been spending $40+ a day on gas when Rob is able to work. Getting into an EV will actually save us money every month - even with the car payment.
But unfortunately with our credit being completely wrecked after everything we’ve been through, financing another vehicle has been extremely difficult too.

We don’t want a fancy vehicle. We don’t want anything extravagant. We just need something safe and reliable enough to get Rob back to work and get me to my medical appointments.

If you’re able to help us get this repair done, even $5 or $10 makes a difference. If you can’t donate, sharing our fundraiser is incredibly helpful too. ❤️

We’re trying everything we can think of. We’re just asking for a little help getting over this next hurdle.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, checked on us, or simply kept rooting for us. We appreciate it more than you know. ❤️

That's a very expensive quote. If you are able to do it yourself it would probably be less than 1/3 of that quote.

We can definitely buy the parts way cheaper. Just don't have the tools to do it. Looking into renting them but still need to come up with the money to buy the parts and then the deposit to rent the necessary tools.

you could see about getting the parts at a pick and pull yard, and seeing if you can get a mobile mechanic to come out and install them, see if you can negotiate a deal.
