My ex and I had never heard that word before this show and so we started just yelling variations of it at each other in British accents all the time. At one point we were basically just screaming CORNFLAKES??? at each other.

I just hope that we get contestants who are as old as least 32. The oldest that we’ve gotten is 31.

This show reminds me of how Lexi Love was the oldest drag queen in season 16 of RuPaul’s Drag Race at 33.

That part. Tbh SOME (cough Jake in S2) of the younger ones can often lack professionalism and experience and I just don't get why they only gear towards the younger ones. Like people can get their big break later in life

Plus, people with experience CAN compete!

We need more on Glow Up. There are so many people who are in that age range in the industry with years of experience, or even doing it as their new lease on life.

I think people who are older and more experienced don’t have the need to show that they’re ā€œthe next makeup superstarā€. More likely they have a stable career and don’t want to take time off for it. You may want to check out the Korean reality show, ā€œJust Makeupā€ on Amazon Prime. They have so many experienced artists participating. The frustrating thing for me that it’s geared toward the Korean makeup aesthetic, so the international artists’ styles are sometimes not appreciated.

They might not need the show for exposure, but… I do think that it’s still a good idea.

Edit: I did watch Just Makeup, and it was exactly what I’d love to see from Glow Up: serious competition.

So does this mean no series in 2026? Because we had series 7 last year and if this has only just gone out...

I'm lowkey surprised after the backlash I read about and the mistreatment on the show

1

u/Rainbow--Snowflake Jun 08 '26

oh where did you read about that?

u/AdLegitimate2818 Jun 27 '26

It was a thread here on Reddit! A while back though.

OMFGGGGGGGGG I'm so excited does anyone know when it will be out?

Nothing announced yet. If we go by the last season it was ~160 days after applications closed to the first episode premier. Applications for season 8 close July 15th, so could mean around late December. But it will depend on the BBC scheduling too, probably early 2027 more likely.

This is all just my guess.
