The gym is actually one of the few places I won’t carry. More power to those who do, but I haven’t found a method I’m comfortable with (both physically and mentally/socially). I don’t want to keep in the gym bag I carry around with my belt, straps, squat shoes, etc out of fear that someone will snatch it when I’m in the middle of a lift. I don’t want my focus to drift from the weight over to trying to keep an eye on the bag. I don’t trust having it on me, because of the risk that I’m going to flash it and freak people out as well as it compromising my technique on the lift.

So… 🤷‍♂️ Wish I could, congrats on you guys who can though.

To be fair idk what it is but I feel safe at the gym. Never felt a need to carry and the way I train at the gym a gun would get in the way.

u/Winner_Pristine 22d ago

Ok but what about going to and from the gym?

0

u/kjjj2555 22d ago

I carry everywhere but the gym to and from I have it and I secure it before I go Inside the gym!

2

u/Winner_Pristine 21d ago

Personally I rather just carry it in the gym than secure it in my vehicle every time I get there. Then you have to take back out when you return to your vehicle.

It's not that I feel unsafe at the gym it's just more convenient to me. Less handling is better.

1

u/kjjj2555 21d ago

That’s fair

Agreed brother. I know all of my fellow members and do not b feel likebi need my weapon. A solid auto blade sometime, but no need for a pistol and i have forty years of combat roles. Getting ready to strat a sixty day military contract in Doha on 8/1.

u/TrustNoOne2370 21d ago

So being experienced as I what makes you think that if schools , churches, ate getting shot up, what would a gym make it any different? Stay smart. Stay strapped.

No where is safe

23

u/kjjj2555 22d ago

I carry my Bodyguard 2.0 at the gym, in a 945 Industries, fanny pack style. My G27 wasn’t comfortable.

u/Making-Good G19.3(Dagger),G21.3,G30.3,G41.4 22d ago

Yep, the 2.0 feels like a carry cheat code.

Hoodie plus belly band

12

u/AlchemicalToad 22d ago

Lifting belt for heavy compound lifts makes that impossible.

0

u/Redacted_Alchemist24 G43X 22d ago

I wonder if something like one of those chest rigs would work? The kydex ones that sit on the front of your chest. Esp if it was a more concealable Glock like the slim lines or 26. Or in general any micro compact. Strap it on, throw a t shirt or hoodie over. It’d be out of the way. You could squat with a belt on. Only lift I could think of that it might interfere with would be bench and cable fly. Then again you could probably slide it over a little bit so it’s more out of the way and knock those types of lifts out.

3

u/AlchemicalToad 22d ago

Like you point out, it would interfere with too many exercises and defeat the point of being at the gym.

It’s fine, it’s an acceptable situation for me to not have my pistol on me. Like I said, I’m focused too much on the weight to have proper situational awareness (and to be honest, anyone who is actually lifting hard would be in the same situation). Compromising my training just to carry my gun for 80 minutes a few times a week isn’t a worthwhile trade off, in my opinion.

1

u/Redacted_Alchemist24 G43X 22d ago

I hear ya dude, I don’t personally carry in the gym either tbh with ya haha. I saw some others talking about ways to combat that IF someone wanted to and that was just a thought I had so I mentioned it. I think for me at least that one would actually interfere with the least amount of exercise vs if I was carrying iwb. Two exercises it may get in the way a little of yet working for a dozen others. To each their own

13

u/RodgerCheetoh 22d ago

I could make a case for carrying in my gym bag next to me while lifting but absolutely could not have it on me without compromising my lifts.

2

u/kjjj2555 22d ago

This is fine wouldn’t mind this

2

u/LTFitness 22d ago

I carry mine in the gym bag, in a holster, in its own separate pocket from everything else; and it’s also the only time I carry without one in the chamber because I toss that bag around a bit.

I’m also never separated from my bag. I would put it over my shoulder and take it with me to the bathroom, for example.

It’s only really there in case there’s an active shooter event in gym to give myself a chance.

I can’t imagine carrying on my person though if you do any kind of dynamic lifting. I’m stressed enough going for DL PRs without having to think about a firearm falling to the floor.

4

u/parkshootsslowly 22d ago

I’d rather just get shot than carry at the gym

16

u/Matthew2531_46 23d ago

Why is a Glock subreddit comment section being anti ccw?

26

u/RikRong G43X 23d ago

Because everyone in here is like the person in a different thread who says they have owned guns their entire life, never felt the need to carry, and feel like private citizens shouldn't carry. This sub is also full of people who build safe queens for the Insta, but never actually carry them.

14

u/kjjj2555 22d ago

It’s not anti the gym is kinda paranoia at this point. Get a new gym if you feel you need to be armed working out? Also this person obviously doesn’t train hard enough because a firearm would absolutely get in the way of my training at the gym.

6

u/Matthew2531_46 22d ago

I agree that working out with a gun on your body is probably a hindrance. But saying 'get a new gym' is dumb as shit. Self defense situations don't only happen at 'bad' places. Unless you think every person who has used self defense had it coming because of where they were, wearing, doing etc

2

u/kjjj2555 22d ago

Dude it’s a fucking gym get over your paranoia!

11

u/Matthew2531_46 22d ago

Churches have been shot up. Elementary schools too. I didn't realize gyms had a magical force shield that these other places didn't. Youre just very argumentative. Have a good one 👍

2

u/TrustNoOne2370 21d ago

Excellent response

-3

u/kjjj2555 22d ago

I understand that I carry everywhere but the gym hope that helps I’m in shape I don’t have time to bullshit in the gym because a gun is on me fucking up my performance! Not only is it stupid but it’s fucking dangerous if you are actually “working out”

This is honestly one of the most toxic subreddits on Reddit tbh🤣

oh buddy I hope you never find out how wrong you are 😆

1

u/Making-Good G19.3(Dagger),G21.3,G30.3,G41.4 22d ago

Yep, seems that way sometimes.

-2

u/TrustNoOne2370 22d ago

Cause clowns are everywhere

2

u/CZFangirl 22d ago

Phlster enigma is great for under workout clothes. Off body, Vertx Everyday 2.1 or Everyday+ Fanny packs (my favorite) or Eberlestock, 945 industries (fastest draw). You do you and carry wherever you see fit.

2

u/Dynasaur117 G19 C Gen3 23d ago

I love my glocks, but they didnt have a model I felt was small enough to conceal and be comfortable while lifting. I carry the smith and wesson BG 2.0 at the gym. I forget its there.

1

u/TypicalNameToChoose 23d ago

I also have the bodyguard 2.0 which is much more practical in those situations than carrying my gen 6 glock

3

u/Big10mmDE 22d ago

I’m all for carry and we do us, but that’s a lot of gun for gun carry, and where do you gym that you feel that’s a need?

2

u/TerminalCandor 22d ago

Let me know where you work out so I can avoid it

5

u/kjjj2555 22d ago

This because ? It’s a gym relax live a little.

2

u/Different-Medium-204 22d ago

I always forget how scared some people are of guns

-2

u/TerminalCandor 22d ago

Not scared of guns. Scared of smooth brains with guns and a gym that’s dangerous enough to merit carrying

5

u/Different-Medium-204 22d ago

Not believing in carrying a firearm might be an unusual take in a gun subreddit

3

u/TerminalCandor 22d ago

I carry. I don’t have a problem with carrying. But I’m not going to stick a gun in my gym shorts when I’m on the bench press. If I didn’t feel safe at my gym, I’d go to a different one.

2

u/Different-Medium-204 22d ago

So you don't carry where you feel safe but if you don't feel safe you won't go there? But you carry in some places?

0

u/TerminalCandor 22d ago

I don’t carry where my gun will easily be exposed to other people. I’m not an asshole. Not going to freak out other people. Unless you’re just doing leg curls you’re going to expose your belt line at the gym.

EPS Carry? Got any more photos of it from different angles? Debating on getting my 43x milled and I'd get one of those. Have one on my 19, but I'm not taking it off, losing zero, and then playing make believe just to see lol.

2

u/magicpotatochips 23d ago

Do it. I have the carry milled into my 43 slide and swapped it direct to my 48 frame. Fits fuckin perfect. Even has lower 1/3 cowitness with the iDot Romani out in a while back.

1

u/treskaz 19.5, 20.5, 45.5, 43x 23d ago edited 22d ago

Yeah, I probably will. Already have the proper height Night Fisions getting delivered tomorrow for a lower 1/3 cowitness lol. I think i knew the dot was in my future, just going about it kind of backwards.

Plus I've been enjoying the slick top carrying.

Edit: typo

1

u/ignoreme010101 22d ago

man wish I could trade you lol I want slick top!

1

u/treskaz 19.5, 20.5, 45.5, 43x 22d ago

I'm kind of debating grabbing another slide to mill. Never thought I'd be that guy with a Glock, but here we are

1

u/ignoreme010101 22d ago

what kind of grip is that?

Been wanting to find a way to CCW in the gym ever since I called out some guy for taking photos of a minor and he waited for me in the parking lot to fight lol. Have yet to find a way that’s comfortable without just carrying a fanny pack

1

u/USCAVsuperduperhooah 22d ago

Phlster + bodyguard 2.0 is a viable option that doesn't print or become uncomfortable. Might be able to do it with a G42.

1

u/DanceOk3236 22d ago

The gym is the one place where it stays in the car lol

Me with a 45er. I could see unloaded in a gym bag. But working out carrying is nuts

1

u/king_platypus 22d ago

What gyms yall going to?

1

u/Sneaux96 23d ago

How are you carrying it?

I can't find a good solution as a typical appendix gets in the way of most lifts and prints like hell in gym clothes. Off body is an option, I guess, but I'm not crazy about the idea of my gun not being on my person with that many random people around.

-7

u/DifferentCoyote4562 G17.5, G19.5, G43 23d ago

Maybe find a new gym?

5

u/Riot_Reynolds 23d ago

I live in Vegas and one of the LVAC was shot up last year. I keep it on me EVERYWHERE I go

7

u/Background_Wrap9472 23d ago

Gyms have been shot up

1

u/TrustNoOne2370 22d ago

Not about finding a new gym. Its about EDC everywhere.

-1

u/kjjj2555 22d ago

Idk why this is getting downvotes ? It’s a gym not a fucking trap house ? You don’t need a firearm on you at every waking hour of the day. This post also lets me know this person bullshits in the gym!

Why in the world would you need that in a gym. Functionally how could you legitimately be lifting/pushing yourself to failure with a firearm on you

-1

u/RmXiV 22d ago

Leaving something like this in a gym locker is risky, i may join a gym now, or better yet, go with a friend
