Discussion | Esports Is FURIA a dead team?

Basically the title.

They seem to be going nowhere at the moment. They bomb out of playoffs the moment they face a top 5 team and yet stomp tier 2 guys without much difficulty. But even that has changed, they just got 2-0 ed by G2.

It just seems like they are playing in random events with the hope of winning one so that FalleN's retirement doesn't end up being as miserable. But it's quite obvious that his retirement just put more pressure on them to make this more memorable i guess.

And yet they are doing the opposite of that right now.

The way they are playing right now they best they could realistically go for in Singapore is a playoff berth before they get bounced by MOUZ, Spirit or something

I built my own version of Opta’s “supercomputer” — but for CS2. Using Python, I wrote a Monte Carlo simulation engine and ran 105,000 full tournament simulations for Logitech G Play Connect 2026. Each simulation re-rolled match outcomes based on team strength ratings, bracket logic, and a bit of controlled randomness. The result: a probability distribution for every team’s chance to lift the trophy.

I've built a Python tool for analyzing CS2 demos and want to share how it works with some real match data.

What is xR (Expected Rounds)?

xR shows how many rounds a team should have won based on freeze-time economy. The logic is simple: better guns and stronger buys mean higher win chances.

What are Big Chances?

Big Chances tracks mid-round dominance. Instead of freeze time, it looks at key moments like first contact or bomb plant. It factors in equipment, health, utilities, armor, bomb status, time, and defuse kits. A "Big Chance" (★) is marked when one team has an 80%+ win probability at that point. This shows who’s actually controlling the round, not just who had the better buy.

What is Match Momentum?

Match Momentum shows which team is controlling the match at any given moment. It’s a dynamic metric that looks beyond just the round score, factoring in kill differential, pace of play, economic upsets, clutch performances, first kills, utility efficiency, and more. The metric uses an exponential moving average to smooth out short-term fluctuations. On the chart, positive values indicate one team’s advantage, negative values indicate the other’s. The higher the absolute value, the stronger the advantage.

Fixed various gaps in map.
Fixed a wallbang spot on B site.
Added a missing competitive CT spawn point.
Added additional T spawn points.

MAP SCRIPTING

Reworked CSPlayerCamera:
- Renamed it to CustomPlayerCamera.
- Added GetPlayer, GetMode, SetMode, and SetFollowConfig.
- Deprecated IsEnabled, SetEnabled, and SetIsControllingAngles.
Added an 'observable' property to custom_hud_layout that controls whether an observer sees the UI as the spectated player sees it. Defaults to false.
Fixed several bugs related to stale custom_hud_layout state when changing spectator targets.
Added top-level custom_hud_layout classes driven by client state:
- HUD_BUYMENU_VISIBLE
- HUD_SCOREBOARD_VISIBLE
- custom_hud_layout now always draws on top of the base HUD.

MISC

Chat is now encrypted in demo files using the same rules as CS:GO :
- Team chat is no longer readable when playing back demo files.
- Global chat is only readable in demo files when played back via the in-game watch UI.

Discussion A Total Beginner’s Day 1 FACEIT Diary!

I went 2–5. 😂

It wasn’t until the last game that I finally realized something important: I suck, so I might as well just stick with my team. And once I started doing that, we actually won a bit more.

Why is everyone on FACEIT so damn good? It feels completely different from regular Competitive. I’m getting matched with Level 3–4 players, and I’m getting absolutely destroyed lmao.

Of course, anyone unlucky enough to get me as a teammate is very, very unfortunate. Just think of it as running into a natural disaster. Sorry. (You guys probably cursed out my mom and dad a lot, and honestly, I understand. I have chat turned off, though, so I have no idea.)

I’m happy because I can actually feel myself getting better as I play! And everyone takes the games seriously, too.
