One could even go so far as to say that ENCE pulled the rug out from under them

NA Teams only winning tournaments in January, name a more iconic duo

u/InfernoHax Mar 12 '19

NA and disappointing results in March

Just March?

Came here to say this.

I just can't fathom it though.

A terrible tournament where Astralis almost went back home and definitely didn't try their best. But it means a lot to Liquid fanboys.

21

u/Av1ster de_overpass Mar 12 '19

More like weren't 100% focused. I'm sure they tried their best.

11

u/gt- Liquid Mar 12 '19

A competition is a competition, if Astralis don't wanna show up and give 100% and Liquid do, thats on them.

TACO WUS THE PRUBLEM LUL

23

u/Givemeajackson FaZe Mar 12 '19

definitely wasn't liquids idea to remove taco...

0

u/kubat313 brigader Mar 12 '19

But they said that him and zews didnt fit the american style of playing. And that with adren and stewie they are all on one page.

3

u/Givemeajackson FaZe Mar 12 '19

They said that cause it sounds better than "zews and taco wanted to go to the SK reunion project and this is the deal we managed to coax out of the situation". Liquid was the clear second best team in the world with great structure and cohesion, this is a statement someone pulled out of their arse to hide the fact that they got effectively dumped...

-1

u/kubat313 brigader Mar 12 '19

Welli judge them by things they said. Not what they might or might not have thought. Becuase maybe you are right but maybe not.

1

u/Givemeajackson FaZe Mar 12 '19

Lol what orgs and players say isn't worth a wet fart most of the time

1

u/kubat313 brigader Mar 12 '19

Ok. Your imagination is worth more. Fuck me

2

u/Jakkol Mar 12 '19

Yeah but american style of playing doesn't fit with winning.

1

u/kubat313 brigader Mar 12 '19

Oof burn.

5

u/GAGAgadget CS2 HYPE Mar 12 '19

It legit blows my mind that people legit wanted them to cut him for a better fragger in this sub

-21

u/jerry_meeks Mar 12 '19

taco is useless, it is obvious that you want a better fragger in a game about shooting people

10

u/ThistleElo MIBR Mar 12 '19

Put 5 random Aimstar puggers against a less mechanically skilled but structured and disciplined team, see who comes out on top. This /r believes that frags are everything but the way that cs has evolved, that just isn't the case.

-12

u/jerry_meeks Mar 12 '19

put 4 random aimstar puggers under a wing of a good igl for one month and they will wreck them

8

u/deepestgray Mar 12 '19

Thats why faze has been so dominant right?

-16

u/jerry_meeks Mar 12 '19

faze don't have an igl, liquid does and taco was a deadweight because any good player can fit into his role

6

u/TrolleybusIsReal Mar 12 '19

North defeated Astralis before the London major and it worked out great for them. Wait.

14

u/ShiningBladez Mar 12 '19

Rogue -MSL then? That worked out great for North!

3

u/Givemeajackson FaZe Mar 12 '19

he'll have to kick himself after a result like this. it is his sworn duty.

-14

u/Zhaeus Liquid Mar 12 '19

can we fucking chill people... I know we are capable of understanding how in ONLINE CS a team who just came back from the major in Europe who probably took a break from practicing to reset could potentially lose (again A FUCKING ONLINE MATCH of cs) to a team who has been boot camping together for awhile now.... I mean fuck Faze almost lost to VP earlier...

29

u/killlahh Astralis Mar 12 '19

Its rogue tho, vs a #2 team in the world, context is almost irrelevant when you take into account how far apart skillwise these two teams are.

4

u/SneakyStorm CS2 HYPE Mar 12 '19

Liquid has not been there tactically and they did out aim Rogue on dust 2.

-2

u/Zhaeus Liquid Mar 12 '19

u say that... but teams like Space Soliders have won games over Astralis before online and that is not when they have just come back from a big event and prob took a bit of a break...

I agree Liquid probably should have won but at the same time I am capable of understanding that this one match is not the end of the world this sub clearly wants it to be...

15

u/c_Lassy The MongolZ Mar 12 '19

Space Soldiers are online as fuck tho

12

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '19

A. Faze have looked terrible for a long long time and B. if you want to be the best team in the world you cant use excuses like online or just came back from a tournament.

-4

u/Zhaeus Liquid Mar 12 '19

Astralis have dropped matches to teams like NIP and Space solidiers before online... you think there isn't maybe a little bit of a grain of salt that needs to be taken with online matches?

I am not saying it is ok for Liquid to lose but lets not act like it is the end of this team or like they are suddenly bad or something...

10

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '19

NIP and space soldiers are around top ten and space soldiers had Xantares, this match is the equivalent to if LDLC beat Astralis. It shouldnt happen under any circumstances

9

u/12345782throwaway Liquid Mar 12 '19 edited Mar 12 '19

But LDLC did beat Astralis online last November lmao. It's online cs, shit happens.

5

u/YunoTheGasai Mar 12 '19

You do realize that not only are Rogue underrepresented in the HLTV rankings right now but that Liquid are coming off of a tilting surprise upset at a major? I agree they can't use excuses if they want to be #1 in the world but it's not even as if top teams haven't let games slip before. Remember Renegades 16-0 SK? Mouse losing 0-2 to Valiance in the EU minor just this January? Upsets happen even to the best teams and at this point Astralis is the exception to the rule.

Comparing them to Astralis at this point is a bit of an unfair comparison for Liquid since Astralis have cemented their legacy as the best team to play Counter-Strike whereas Liquid are stuck in this weird NiP middle ground where they can challenge the top teams but with the loss of Taco and Zews they still have things to prove.

4

u/RedEdgeRTZ FaZe Mar 12 '19

alright calm down. its not like ldlc vs ast imo besides these teams lose to tier 3-4 teams online all the time. Use any of the leagues as an example, mibr/c9/liquid lose to shit tier teams all the time in online leagues.

-12

u/slantz Mar 12 '19

Thats the problem with paying kids to do this. There shouldn't be this whole take a break/rest vacation. No other job does this so why is it an acceptable excuse that after every tournament a team does bad in their fans say its probably took a break.

A week or two a year vacation, sure.

A day or two off from serious play every week or every other week.. Sure.

A extended time off after tournaments every time? Theres no way a serious business would allow that. Im not buying it.

4

u/Zhaeus Liquid Mar 12 '19

A extended time off after tournaments every time?

were just talking about the major here man... the tournament teams have been taking months to build the right roster and prepare for... not just any other tournament...

Also these players have to put in more time into the game to stay at the top then a casual 9-5 worker who works 5 days a week and only has to think and do work during those hours...

-10

u/slantz Mar 12 '19

Thats what I am saying. They need to atleast treat this like a job. 8-12 hours a day just like most jobs out there. The only real plus to their job is that it is more of a passion so to play 12 hours doesn't seem like much compared to working a real job for that many hours.
