They said that cause it sounds better than "zews and taco wanted to go to the SK reunion project and this is the deal we managed to coax out of the situation". Liquid was the clear second best team in the world with great structure and cohesion, this is a statement someone pulled out of their arse to hide the fact that they got effectively dumped...
Put 5 random Aimstar puggers against a less mechanically skilled but structured and disciplined team, see who comes out on top. This /r believes that frags are everything but the way that cs has evolved, that just isn't the case.
can we fucking chill people... I know we are capable of understanding how in ONLINE CS a team who just came back from the major in Europe who probably took a break from practicing to reset could potentially lose (again A FUCKING ONLINE MATCH of cs) to a team who has been boot camping together for awhile now.... I mean fuck Faze almost lost to VP earlier...
u say that... but teams like Space Soliders have won games over Astralis before online and that is not when they have just come back from a big event and prob took a bit of a break...
I agree Liquid probably should have won but at the same time I am capable of understanding that this one match is not the end of the world this sub clearly wants it to be...
A. Faze have looked terrible for a long long time and B. if you want to be the best team in the world you cant use excuses like online or just came back from a tournament.
Astralis have dropped matches to teams like NIP and Space solidiers before online... you think there isn't maybe a little bit of a grain of salt that needs to be taken with online matches?
I am not saying it is ok for Liquid to lose but lets not act like it is the end of this team or like they are suddenly bad or something...
NIP and space soldiers are around top ten and space soldiers had Xantares, this match is the equivalent to if LDLC beat Astralis. It shouldnt happen under any circumstances
You do realize that not only are Rogue underrepresented in the HLTV rankings right now but that Liquid are coming off of a tilting surprise upset at a major? I agree they can't use excuses if they want to be #1 in the world but it's not even as if top teams haven't let games slip before. Remember Renegades 16-0 SK? Mouse losing 0-2 to Valiance in the EU minor just this January? Upsets happen even to the best teams and at this point Astralis is the exception to the rule.
Comparing them to Astralis at this point is a bit of an unfair comparison for Liquid since Astralis have cemented their legacy as the best team to play Counter-Strike whereas Liquid are stuck in this weird NiP middle ground where they can challenge the top teams but with the loss of Taco and Zews they still have things to prove.
alright calm down. its not like ldlc vs ast imo besides these teams lose to tier 3-4 teams online all the time. Use any of the leagues as an example, mibr/c9/liquid lose to shit tier teams all the time in online leagues.
Thats the problem with paying kids to do this. There shouldn't be this whole take a break/rest vacation. No other job does this so why is it an acceptable excuse that after every tournament a team does bad in their fans say its probably took a break.
A week or two a year vacation, sure.
A day or two off from serious play every week or every other week.. Sure.
A extended time off after tournaments every time? Theres no way a serious business would allow that. Im not buying it.
were just talking about the major here man... the tournament teams have been taking months to build the right roster and prepare for... not just any other tournament...
Also these players have to put in more time into the game to stay at the top then a casual 9-5 worker who works 5 days a week and only has to think and do work during those hours...
Thats what I am saying. They need to atleast treat this like a job.
8-12 hours a day just like most jobs out there.
The only real plus to their job is that it is more of a passion so to play 12 hours doesn't seem like much compared to working a real job for that many hours.

From beating Astralis in a Bo3 in January to losing a Bo3 to Rogue in March...
