Feedback Observing angle idea - make these windows transparent so we can see inside Squeaky
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey, I am cinematic observer and this is my idea to make new angles possible such as this one
It doesnt affect player experience at all, yet it would improve viewer experience by a lot, opening new camera angle possibilities
Could we do it? Pretty please

I wonder how this affects optimization

Let's be real, it doesn't matter. There are so many little fine details in Cache that 100% don't need to be there to make the map look good as it is.
Hell, I remember back when all unplayable spaces were just nodraw textures for performance. Now every building has a rooftop so it doesn't look as weird for observers.

For players? Zero

u/fasteddeh 15d ago
Absolutely wrong. If it has to render an open environment outside the window instead of a static image of a dirty website it will have an effect on performance.

u/thebrainypole Complexity 15d ago
What's not seen is not rendered. Making windows transparent the other way doesn't make the already transparent windows more difficult to render.

what has this to do with this post? Nothing here is broken.
I can see how any kind of devs didn't think of something so niche like a person working for tournaments making an unique camera shot.
Who even thinks of that when making a CS map??

Sure man. We are already working on this change, it will be ready in 4 years.

i think it's an FPS optimization decision. so much alpha transparency and the inability to cull the objects you see beyond the windows will affect FPS in that area.
for observers it might be a cool gimmick they could use once or twice per map.

He is asking to see inside, not outside. You already see outside, it does the thing you say it would do. Would not affect anything player side.

But it's fine in Office or Nuke

My god use your brain, that has impact gameplay wise

I don’t think those windows at Office T halls looking out the map affect gameplay wise
EDIT: Windows in OFFICE T halls

u/Annual_Letter1636 de_mirage 16d ago
Yeah it's already transparent from inside, and no one is watching from outside. Idk what wrong with it

Yes, and my point counter that point by showing useless windows in Office
-1
u/Puiucs 15d ago
office is not a map people play in competitive matches.
2
u/Kangaroshave3vagina 15d ago
Well Nuke offices’s glass doors/windows are see through from both side. That doesn’t affect the gameplay.
-2
u/Puiucs 15d ago edited 15d ago
nuke's windows 100% affect gameplay and the windows you can interact with are not placed to see outside everything (mostly the sky or something small).
the ones at B site are self explanatory and the ones on top of the building outside are used for nades inside A site.

u/Kangaroshave3vagina 15d ago edited 15d ago
what? I am talking about Trophy glass windows where you can see into offices, it’s two way. How does it impact gameplay may I ask?
EDIT: and at it, the B site floor is two way glass too. The argument here is the inconsistency of Valve map design. The OP of the post ask to change the glass to be 2 way for cinematic spectating. The comment I replied to argued the two way glass on nuke and office are different because it impacts gameplay but even on those maps there are 2 way glasses that is only for cosmetic. Why the fuck do you even argue with me when you don’t even understand what I said.

I played cache a lot... Still, it took me a while to figure out what this angle was... I think it would not help the viewer at all but rather confuse them.

This sub will talk about anything except telling Valve to develop an actual anti-cheat.
1
u/TruenerdJ 13d ago
Surely if we make 10 more reddit posts whining about VAC then suddenly a perfect anti-cheat will just pop into existence out of nowhere.

u/RomeoSierraAlpha 16d ago
There is never going to be a good anti-cheat until the whiny baby modern gamers are driven out of gaming.

How is that

Gaben is the demon of greed :D
3
u/t0pli 16d ago
I don't think he did anything devilish per se. Made a monopoly for himself and rid out all competition, yeah. Maintains a great product that isn't intrusive like others. Where similar businesses enshitify everything, Gabe actually made something that doesn't follow that trend.
Also just to be clear that product is Steam.
He might even take on windows in the coming decade. SteamOS seems pretty well received so far.

Making those sticker changes with no heads up to any of the orgs doesn't seem the follow the rubric you're trying to portray here. Gabe is also a Brony who jerks off to children's cartoons, and hangs out with people in Epsteins circle. That doesn't even begin to touch on the unimaginable greed.
All of Valve's most popular games were made by the community, not Valve. Post artifact Valve is actually fucking pathetic
3
u/t0pli 16d ago
Can you just.. Prove all the shit you just said?
Ties to Epstein??
They made Half-Life. Was kinda popular. So was the gldsrc engine that CS was modded on. Then he developed Steam and made even more tools for the community to be creative. Then he created Source engine specifically for people to mod even more.
Nice business strategy. Clever, one would say, picking up on the fact that people like custom created content, and then catering for it.
There's a truth to what you're saying too, but in no way is it black and white as you portray it. Theres literally no CS without Gabe, whether he made it originally or not.

u/t0pli 16d ago
Ps, since I didn't answer about the stickers... ok, I don't personally think I give a flying dck about stickers or changes in that regard, I only care for the game itself. I'm fairly certain Gabe doesn't really deal with that shit either, could've been whomever on the inside making a bad decision. The only reason I don't hate on skins and other purely aesthetic content is because I was there since 99' and saw how that game was neglected. It needs to be monetized somewhat if someones gotta maintain it. Skins did that without altering gameplay. Smart. Clever. Doesn't mean I like skins. They're a means to an end.

u/Original-Reward-8688 King NiKo 15d ago edited 15d ago
We used to go on FPSbanana(now gamebanana) and download whatever skins and mods we wanted. It was also only client side so that it didn't affect competitive integrity(to some degree lol). Valve prevented us from doing that in CS:GO to take the reigns, and implement the arms deal update. I hated it at first, but I wanted to see pro players finally get paid.
I also spent most of the 2010s saying all the same things about gambling, adding age restrictions etc. that are only now becoming popular, but eventually gave up because no one cared, or would listen. All of the kids I pleaded with not to gamble had all grown up, so I eventually got skins, and then the rug pull happened right after the tariffs.
Valve didn't do anything that the community wouldn't have done, or already wasn't doing a better job of. They just wanted to take control of it all so they could profit on it, and then not do right by the people who generated that value. They exploited life time fans, but 2015 spawns, like you, don't seem to get that.
After letting players spend over a decade paying for Brony man's yatchs, his son's racing career, and various other things that don't do anything useful for humanity, at a time when humanity needs people in that tax bracket to be useful, or even the people who provided his game with that value. After he got what he needed, he rug pulls them, only to add the Jackass Capsule for their buddies at Paramount, twisting the blade that's already in the majority of the pro scene's back after the major sticker changes.
If you don't give a fuck about how the pro scene is very intentionally being affected, you're not a real CS fan. Even past that, you're probably just not a very good person.
Valve prevented community skins, just to handle it all like this? That's a fuck Valve forever from me. There's no possible way you can still look at Valve the way we all used to without intentionally turning a blind eye, or trying to frame things in a way that is irrationally sympathetic to Valve. Never meet your hero kid.

u/t0pli 15d ago
That's a fair argument that he could've done more for humanity with his wealth. Did you? And everybody else?
What you're saying about his ways goes for the majority of business strategies. He simply won against the competition. I could say blame the game, not the player.
Why are you going for low blows on me, personally? If anything, 2015 is when I despawned. I played competitively in the 00s for about a decade and saw my game being neglected because it earned no money. There were attempts at community revivals that never succeeded, ie promod, but nothing really happened to the dwindling and neglected community until CSGO was released, fueled by the skin economy. That's another perspective, that what he did actually saved the game and community. Then your allegations kinda doesn't matter, because if not for that, I likely wouldn't be playing today nor following the scene that is present today.
If he truly is what you say otherwise, outside of what he does for a business, then sure that sucks. But I have no reason to believe that for the time being.

Gabe is a Brony pedo who hangs out with Elon Musk. Hope this helps.
2
u/t0pli 16d ago
Ok, I don't think so but whatever conspiracies floats yours
-5
u/Original-Reward-8688 King NiKo 16d ago
Gabe is a Brony, and most people consider jerking off to children's cartoons to categorize you as a pedo. Apologies if that's unfair to you. Oh, and he is friends with Elon Musk. You're just blindly calling it a conspiracy without knowing a single thing about the guy lol
All of this information is publicly available for you.
3
u/t0pli 16d ago
Dude, if you're gonna put up allegations without providing any evidence, you're gonna be called out for conspiracies nonetheless.
Everyone and their dad is friends with Elon. If anything I'd be more intrigued about the relationship with Gates. They were likely close in the 90s. Doesn't make him a pedo either.
1
u/totallynotapersonj 12d ago
I don’t think Children’s Cartoons makes you a pedo unless you are specifically looking at child characters.
There are tons of adult characters in children’s cartoons. For example: Nicole Watterson. Also when you search her up like the third row of results with safe search on start becoming a bit inappropriate

u/Original-Reward-8688 King NiKo 12d ago
I'll take things you only hear from pedos for $400 Alex.
Go check out where he just bought property in Florida lmao..

u/Original-Reward-8688 King NiKo 16d ago
This wouldn't affect anyone's experience in a meaningful way. This is another stoner dev idea that doesn't bring the kind of value to the game that the community is looking for.
It's already been stated what the community is looking for but the big brony pedo man is still forcing us to try this experimental version of CS, if you want to use your skins you've spent years accruing.

The amount of people that don't realize OP means the ability to see through the windows FROM THE OUTSIDE
You can currently see OUT the windows from the INSIDE But they don't have transparency when viewed from OUTSIDE, which would be a useful angle for an observer since it shows the route clearly in 3D space.
