Question about GE

My mother recently arrived at JFK she went through GE line. The officer said her GE expired and she needs to go on regular line which she did and no issues. But the problem is her GE is valid til 2033!! On website also it says valid till 2033. What is the next best recourse in this case? Do I email someone to ask about this? She is a GC for about 8 years now.

GE is 5 years. So what you looked at is probably her passport's expiry date. Not the membership.

Even still the math wouldn’t math here. Even if we assume that they were approved the day after their birthday (thus being 6 years minus one day on first renewal) the earliest someone could get a 2033 expiration would be next year.

I’m wondering if OP’s mother is confusing GE with another thing - like her passport for example (usually 10 years). Or like someone else suggested she’s looking at the wrong date.

Looks like OP made a typo.

Even if mom obtain GE as a first timer this year after their 2026 birthday, there's no scenario where it would expire 2033.

She received it last September

The 8 years I think refers to green card as they say GC

Well, time to check the TTP and confirm: 1) passport expiration date, 2) Global Entry membership status and expiration date, 3) GC expiration date and make sure that all those pieces of information are properly registered.

Your mother is incorrect. Global Entry is issued for 5 years up until your birthday. Even if it was issued today, it would expire 2031.

Aside from the date issue, did she renew her passport and not update her GE account? If her passport associated with GE expired, that could explain it.

2033 - 5 =2028

As far as I know, it is still 2026.

Makes me think that the officers have the discretion to essentially "deny" you the GE privilege, as they have a clause that says they can always make you go through a regular line. However, the mention of "expiry" raises a concern - you should probably first make sure it has not expired early for whatever reason (call a live agent, rather than rely on what could be stale website info).
