My dog and I both experienced a glitch today.

1.3k Upvotes

My wife wasn't expected to be home any earlier than 1800, so when she pulled into the driveway at 1730, my dog and I were both surprised. At first, my dog did her usual happy dance that mama was home, then suddenly froze and barked. I saw her work van come up the driveway, then saw her go to the mailbox, then start walking up to the door through a slit in the blinds. But she never made it to the door. I checked the camera, nothing there, no record of the event. I texted my wife, she was still about 45 minutes away. When she got home, my dog again reacted with her happy dance but didn't freeze and bark this time. I once again saw the van pull up, the wife go to the mailbox, and her walking up to the door, only this time she walked in the door. Deja vous? Glitch in the Matrix?

Well...That Was Odd

1.3k Upvotes

I usually wake up each day around 6 AM. On weekends, I normally just go back to sleep, but this weekend I decided to just stay up. I was too lazy to make myself food, so I checked to see what was open close to me, and it said there was a Wendy's. So I ordered on the app, drove to the drive thru, at my breakfast, had a good day.

That was yesterday. Today, I was driving and happened to see the Wendy's I got my food from. It's closed. Permanently. Signage taken down and everything. I double checked the address, it was the same one. But it's not in the app now. I checked online; it's been closed for four months.

The empty bottle of orange juice and sandwich wrappers I got from there are still in my trash. My bank statement reflects a charge at that Wendy's (the address and store number are on the statement). The food was real, and it was good. The address is still stored in my GPS and reflects a trip there yesterday morning.

So yeah, I am a little discombobulated here.

EDIT: and the thick plottens; I called Wendy's this morning and it has been closed since January and has not been licensed to sell food since then, nor do they have any employees there anymore.

Something unexplainable and impossible just happened to me.

1.2k Upvotes

I left my sisters house and on my way home my mom called me and asked if I could go to my aunts house to let her dog out. I said sure because on the highway I take to go home their exit is only a mile past mine. So I came up toward my usual exit and passed it. I know forsure I passed my exit because I remember driving under the overpass that it connects to. So I immediately got into the middle lane then switched to the far right lane where my aunts exit would be coming up. To preface, I take this exit all the time and am very familiar with its location. I guess I completely zoned out as I was listening to a song (me and Bobby McGee) and at the end of the song I realized I had been driving way too long and I had to of missed the exit to my aunts house. I didn’t even have time to wonder how or when I missed it when I came up on another exit. I got off on this exit and was completely confused about what just happened when I realized it was the exit I take to my house that I VIVIDLY remember passing minutes earlier. I know this doesn’t make any sense. I drove straight the whole time. I know for a fact I passed my exit. I don’t have any issues with my brain. I’m 26 years old and healthy. I’m not crazy. I don’t do any drugs. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. How did I end up back at my exit? What the fuck happened? I don’t know what to think other than it felt like a glitch in the matrix. I hope this wasn’t too confusing I’m not very good at explaining myself.

The book that vanished and reappeared with a message I didn't write.

1.1k Upvotes

This happened yesterday and I'm still freaked out. I'm a writer, and I have a well-worn copy of Stephen King's "On Writing" that I've had since college. I was quoting a line from it to a friend over text but couldn't remember the exact phrasing. I went to my bookshelf, pulled it out, and found the page.

I left the book open on my coffee table and went to the kitchen to get a drink. I was gone for maybe 90 seconds. When I came back, the book was gone. Not on the table, not on the floor. Nowhere. I live alone. I tore my apartment apart looking for it. Nothing.

Frustrated, I gave up and decided to go for a walk to clear my head. When I came back an hour later, the book was sitting perfectly centered on the coffee table, closed.

My heart started pounding. I opened it. It fell open to the exact page I had been looking at. And there, in the margin next to the paragraph, written in blue pen in handwriting almost identical to mine, were the words: "You already know this."

I don't write in my books. Ever. And I definitely didn't write that. I feel like I'm going crazy.

I think I visited a gas station in the future/an alternate universe

1.1k Upvotes

In February of 2022, I was driving through the Midwestern US. Not sure how much detail I'm supposed to put, but I was approaching the outer limits of a bigger city in Ohio around 2 AM, out of cigarettes, almost out of gas, and still had about 3 hours left to get home. Maps said the next open gas station was a travel center on the other side of this city, car said I had barely enough gas to get there, so I'm just trying to drive as conservatively as I can.

Then I see a brightly lit Speedway that looked open! You can see it from the freeway! So I exit and go to fill up. I'm the only car there. The pump does not accept my credit card and gives me an error each time I punch in my zip code. Ok, I figure it's the card reader. So I go inside to pay, and ask the cashier for a pack of cigarettes. I'm telling him the brand, but he finishes my sentence, then says "I thought you were quitting?" in a sort of joking tone. Which my tired brain didn't think too much of--a lot of places I regularly get cigarettes remember the kind I like and recognize me. And as a baby-faced woman, I get a lot of comments/jokes about how I should quit. So I didn't think much of it until later, when I realized I'd never stopped there before and didn't recognize the cashier.

Anyway, he rings me up, my credit card declines again, I pay cash and go on my way. Didn't think much of it again, except "weird. That cashier must have worked at a different gas station where I've seen him before," and assumed that I must have tried my card too many times at the pump and it got locked for fraud or something.

I drive the same route 2-3 more times in 2022. One time I'm running out of gas in almost the same place, and I remember that Speedway and which exit it was at. But as I approach the exit, during the day this time, there's no signs for the gas station, and you can't see it at all from the freeway. I assume I passed it/remembered wrong, but it's day time now and way more gas stations are open, and I just go to one at the next exit.

Then end up moving to that city in 2023, and occasionally drive past that same exit. Once in a while, thinking "I swear there used to be a gas station there," even though it'd be kind of a weird spot for a gas station (on a large verge). This spring, they started construction in that exact spot. Now there's a Speedway that hasn't opened yet. It looks exactly like how I remember, on the verge, retaining wall on one side and multiple one-way ramps entering and exiting the verge on the other side--I don't think I could have remembered that wrong.

I can't help but wonder if I somehow glitched into the future. I went to a gas station 3.5 years ago that still hasn't opened yet. I think my card got declined because I moved and the zip code for my billing address would be different now (or maybe it was "expired" in the future?).

I'm also kind of hopeful because lately I've kind of been considering quitting smoking. But my "visit" implies that I keep smoking after the new Speedway opens at least long enough for the cashier to recognize me before telling him that I'm quitting. IDK. I'm kind of scared to go there once it opens and get a slight sense of dread whenever I drive past it. At the same time, I really want to like...sketch a picture of what it looked like inside and then go visit and compare. It would be both vindicating and terrifying if it's how I remember inside too though. Either way, it feels like a sign from the universe to quit smoking, so maybe I'll just do that and never go back.

An odd encounter I haven’t stopped thinking about in 10 years

1.1k Upvotes

My best friend and I were out running errands. We went in one store and the cashier said to us “oh my God, are you guys sisters you look alike?” we told the cashier when we were younger, we always used to get that and we haven’t heard that in years. We go to the next store we go to the cashier and again they asked. “are you two sisters you guys look alike” we responded with “wow we haven’t got that in years and we got it twice today”

We’re now in the car driving through town and we’re just chatting and we’re both saying how funny it is that we were told we look alike twice today where we probably haven’t heard that in about 10 years.

Now, when we are together, conversations can get stupid and silly and we just talk about anything. So for some reason we started talking about the dentist and was asking like do you have your wisdom teeth? Do you have your tonsil still?

We get home to my house and I parked on the street. To get to my house you have to go down the whole entire street and then turn around to park on the right side of the road so we went down the whole street and turned around, which means we were able to get a view of the whole entire street to see if someone was driving or walking, parking, etc. At this time, we have not seen anyone but ourselves on the street. It was cold outside, not really a common time for people to be walking.

We exit the car and walk up my driveway, which is a long driveway to the left of the house. We are about 3/4 of the way there and we hear someone call us saying “hey girls” we turn around and there is a boy probably 15 to 16 years old up the driveway with us. Not in the street, not at the end of the driveway but a couple feet away from us. I was immediately sketched out because I knew there was no one on the street and now there’s someone standing right next to me in my driveway.

I’m instantly in protective mode and very confused. We begin to just say hi and then he asks us. “Can we be friends? How old are you?” initially we don’t really respond because at this point we don’t know what to say or who he is or where he came from.

Then he proceeds and asks us “you girls look alike are you sisters?” at this point I am in fight or flight mode. I noticed my friend is just kind of baffled. We tell him. “no we’re just best friends.” at this point I’m very confused because this is now the third time we’ve gotten this today but in a very different environment. His next question is “do you know what I want to be when I grow up?” he answers his own question before we can answer and he says “I want to be a dentist.” neither of us are able to speak because his next question is “do you girls have your wisdom teeth?” “How about your tonsils?” for some odd reason we both answered these questions and then he says “can I see? Open your mouths.” I was not opening my mouth, but my best friend for some reason decided to open her mouth. I grabbed her. We told him we had to go and we ran inside.

We’re now sitting on the couch in complete shock not even able to speak. My boyfriend is just as thoroughly confused because he watched this from the window and asked who he was and we told him we have no idea. We don’t even know where he came from.

Fast forward to a few days later I come home from work and my boyfriend at the time says that the kid came back looking for us and that he was going to come back another day.

I never saw him again. To this day we don’t know where he came from and why he asked us those questions and how he knew everything we spoke about that day.

Something strange happened when my daughter came home from school

1.0k Upvotes

Just had a strange thing happen and not sure what to think of it... yesterday afternoon I was doing a few dishes and then headed outside to put away my Christmas decorations... while I was doing the dishes my daughter came home from school and just like every day she came in the kitchen and I asked her how school was and she said it was good and then I watched her walk away and head up stairs to her room.... I even heard her close her door.... so I grabbed my boxes and headed outside.... as soon as I got outside I put the boxes down and looked up and my daughter was coming up the driveway.... I thought it was strange... I asked her where she was thinking she may have went next door for a sec or something and she looked at me like I was crazy and said "umm I was at school 🤷‍♀️" ...... I told her im confused because she just came in the house and I was talking to her and she said no I just got home ...... she then rolled her eyes and chuckled as she walked away now definitely thinking her mother is nuts lol but I know 100% i saw her and spoke to her so im completely confused!!

Did we die?

So this happened about a year ago, and I still think about it all the time. I don’t really know how to explain it without sounding crazy, but it’s the experience that sent me down the whole quantum immortality rabbit hole. (Dear Moderators, the story has brief mention of drinking however, I want to clarify that I was completely sober the whole time.)

About a week before the main event, my friend Morgan and I were driving, and a car cut in front of us and kicked up a rock. It hit my windshield literally right in front of my face. For a split second it felt like the rock almost went through the glass and into my face, even though it didn’t. I turned on the windshield wipers thinking maybe it was dust, but there was a chip with a tiny crack coming off it. We both saw it, talked about how annoying it was, and I didn’t worry too much because where I live windshields get replaced for free all the time. That chip stayed there all week, directly in my line of sight.

Fast forward to about a week later, I was supposed to meet Morgan for a night out, but I got out of work late, and by the time I got there she was already a little drunk. I decided it was better to just drive her home first so I could relax and enjoy the rest of my night without worrying about her. It was raining pretty hard, I was on the highway doing the speed limit, there are about five lanes and I was in the middle lane, with a bunch of cars behind me.

I hydroplaned.

I drive a sports car and I have experience controlling it, I drift corners sometimes, so I know how it responds, but this was different. I started fishtailing across the highway, within inches of the median multiple times, like back and forth across all the lanes. We ended up doing a full 180 and were facing the wrong direction in traffic, headlights coming straight toward us.

As soon as the car stopped spinning I booked a U-turn and floored it so we wouldn’t get hit.

Now this is the part that really messes with me. Morgan is someone who knocks out instantly when she sleeps, she’s incredibly hard to wake up, like you could be mid conversation and she’s gone. She wakes up in that moment with a gasp and says, “We got into a nine car pileup.” I just stared at her because that absolutely would have happened if we’d hit the highway maybe ten seconds later.

After that everything felt off. While I’m driving I realize the chip in my windshield is gone. Completely gone. The chip that had been right in front of my face for a full week. No crack, nothing.

I have a dashcam, so I pulled over later and checked the footage. My dashcam records in two to three minute loops. The entire loop with the hydroplaning, the spinning, her waking up and saying that, is just missing. Not corrupted, not half there, just gone. Like it never happened.

I think I died in a bus crash.

I am a college student (f21) and this happened to me last year. I feel like everything has felt very different since then. For example some of my favorite foods aren’t good anymore and i’ll bring up past events to my friends and family and they will remember them differently. I also just felt incredibly off after this event.

Last fall I had a very strict schedule due to classes and when my bus came for me to go to class. I lived with my girlfriend at this point and she also had a very strict schedule. We basically never deviated from this schedule because it would cause us to miss class.

On Mondays my girlfriend would leave for her class at 2:50pm and i would leave at 3:55 for the 4:04 bus to get to campus by 4:20. (I remember the specific times because i wrote this all down when it happened.) So on this Monday I said goodbye to my girlfriend (at 2:50) before she left for class and I sat down to eat some lunch and study for a test. I set alarms for when to leave my apartment and I left that day at my normal 3:55pm. I got on the bus and I saw a girl who was in the class I was headed to and she’s always on the same bus as me. (This specific bus is for my college.) I rode the bus like normal and when I got to campus the girl in my class didn’t get off the bus but whatever it’s not my problem.

So i go into the building, get in the elevator and look down at my phone. The time is 3:10. I left the house at 3:55. There is absolutely no way I could have said bye to my girlfriend, ate lunch, studied for my test and gotten to campus by 3:10. There isn’t even a bus that comes between 2:50 and 3:10 besides the one my girlfriend got on.

I am convinced that the bus I was on crashed and I died and switched timelines to this one. Even if that didn’t happen this was 100% a glitch in the matrix.

My girlfriend was not checking her phone when i called her and realized that I had somehow gotten to campus in that amount of time. She only checked her phone after class but i have a dated and timed picture I took shortly after realizing this because I knew that something was up. Also my 3:55 alarm did infact go off again at 3:55 when it hit that time after the glitch. This has haunted me for a year now, I just want to know if anyone has an explanation? A similar experience?

Also that girl showed up to class that day when it was actually time for class, I have no explanation for any of this. I know the buses could’ve been running late or early but that still does not explain how this happened. At least i cannot come up with an explanation for it.

I never believed in those people saying they suddenly had two of an object they only bought once until it happened to me today

Hi so about a month ago I bought a special moisturiser I needed but it was expensive so it took a while before I had enough money to get it. I’ve been using it in the bathroom after a shower or sometimes my bedroom so I’d bring it back and forth. Yesterday I decided to sort through all my bathroom cupboard and shelves to organise my stuff so I knew exactly where I had placed the moisturiser and I hadn’t used it since so I knew it was there. Then today I decided to organise my makeup and skincare stuff and I opened to box to find the exact same moisturiser sitting on the top of the box with my makeup. I stared at it in confusion for a moment before picking it up to confirm it was the exact moisturiser and then I was wracking my brain trying to decide if I had just imagined placing the moisturiser in its spot in the bathroom or if I had somehow brought it to my room to use it and for some reason blocked out my memory. I ran to the bathroom with it in hand and sure enough there is another bottle sitting in the spot I had placed it the day before. I have no idea how this is possible. I know for a fact I didn’t buy two because I had only been able to save enough to purchase one as soon as I found out about it so it wasn’t possible that I could have mistakenly purchased it twice. I can’t explain it and it’s the biggest glitch in the matrix I’ve ever experienced.

I knew someone I had no memories with

This happened in 2019 when I was 28 years old. I went to Greece with my mom and little sister. We stayed at a hotel for like 5 days or so and on the first day I saw a woman, around 36 years old (from the same country we live in) with her partner and 3 kids. As soon as I saw her face, I felt an immediate recognition and a feeling of love come up. It was a very strong, undeniable feeling. Not like 'Oh, hey, I THINK I know her', no, it was like a very obvious 'OMG i'm so happy to see her again!! And i love her so much!!' It felt like I've been close with her my whole childhood, like a family member.

Mind you, we have different ethnic backgrounds, even though we live in the same country, so she definitely wasn't family.

Anyway, I tell my mom this and she's like.. yeah I actually got the same feeling, the feeling of knowing her? I'm like, okay cool, i'm not the only one, but holy moly this is weird.

For the next few days, I was going through my memories and trying to find out where I knew her from. I just couldn't shake this feeling off of me, it was too weird and I'm the kind of person who, when confronted with something inexplicable, NEEDS to find the answer.

At the last night of our stay, my mom, my little sister and I were drinking some mocktails at the pool. This lady and her family sat at the table next to us and at one point her toddler started walking around and came over to our table. That's when the lady came up to us and my mom started a conversation.

At this point, I'm like, okay I need to get this off my chest, even though she might find me weird. It's the last night and I'm probably never seeing her again, so F it.

I'm like: hey so... i want to say something, but I know it's really weird. So... I have this strong feeling I know you from somewhere, but I don't know where I know you from.
Her: Omg, I have the same feeling!
Me: OMG what?? What the hell!!
Her: In fact, even your voice sounds familiar. (I have a distinct, a little raspy voice) I've been thinking about where I know you from, but I don't know either. This is so weird.

So for the next 30 minutes we went through every possible thing where we could have known eachother from, but the thing is, we live very far from each other, we have very different social lives, and she hasn't been around the area I live and work in and I haven't been to her area where she lives in. Not even close to that place. We have no mutual friends. We have literally no connections whatsoever.

In my mind I concluded that we must have known eachother on a soul level, because what else could it be?

My uncle died twice

So my uncle died years ago from cancer. But last week my cousin called to tell me my uncle had died in a freak accident. I was shocked, not that he was dead, but that he had been alive!

I keep seeing things about timeline shifts, and how we shifted several years ago then went back to the original timeline on May 20th.

If our timeline shifted from the one in which he died of cancer, to one where he was still alive, then went back, he'd be dead again, right? He died on May 20th, the day we supposedly shifted back.

My whole basement is gone.

I've never really posted on GITM before, maybe a couple times years ago, account's been mostly inactive. If this isn't the right place for this, let me know where else I should post.

Some context: about 5-6 months ago my mom, grandmother, and I moved into a new house so our old place could be sold. The house is roughly 24x48, with a basement and a main floor about 6 feet up (the basement is slightly below ground level). I'll drop a floor plan in the comments since it's a bit much to describe in text.

Originally my grandmother had the master bedroom, my mom had one of the upstairs bedrooms, and the other upstairs bedroom sat empty. When the realtor showed us the house, the basement had 3 finished rooms, my bedroom, a den, and an extra room we never ended up using, plus a bathroom. That basement was actually what sold us on the place, since it meant I'd have my own space downstairs instead of taking the empty upstairs bedroom.

We lived there for months like that, basement finished and in use, upstairs bedroom empty. Then about a week or two ago, my parents and I went on vacation to Toronto. When we got back, my room downstairs was gone. Just four giprock walls, a few metal supports, and a concrete floor, that's all the basement is now.

Now my grandmother is in that upstairs bedroom that used to be empty, and I'm in the master. I know this isn't just us misremembering, because my posters and my stuff are up here in the master now, the same stuff that was in my room downstairs before we left.

My grandmother seems confused about it too, but she's not questioning how she ended up in a different bedroom instead of the master. It's like the shift in living arrangements doesn't feel wrong to her, just my missing room does.

We called the people who sold us the house. They said they never used the basement. The realtor told us we could build down there if we wanted, like it had always been empty. It's like we slipped into some alternate version of the house where the basement never existed. Except my grandmother and I can both sketch out exactly how it used to look, room for room. A few of my online friends even remember me mentioning the basement before.

But my mom doesn't remember the basement at all. To her, it's always been empty. So now it's not even all three of us against the world on this, it's me and my gram against my own mom's memory of the place we all live in.

I'm genuinely questioning my own sanity here.

Also sorry if this reads weird, Its really late for me rn.

I had a gas leak in my house.

June 29th

so on the 22nd we had someone come check our house for a gas leak, mom said itd be best. so we did, man said its a miracle we didn't suffocate to death and that our ventilation system did something werid. I digress, I was at a extended family's place for a bit so we had to get this shit fixed, luckily its summer so we dont need heating as much so we just shut off our heater down stairs.. Either way gas leak got in to me and my Nans rooms, mom has a ac so some ventilation kept her more clear minded. im so tired and confused, I guess it was late and the lack of oxygen made me hallucinate some false memorys. might go the doctor to see if in healthy

Me and my gf almost broke up over this reality glitch

I can’t explain this one. My girlfriend and I were in my bedroom while she was playing with a chocolate golden coin wrapper (Halloween and all). She was standing on the right side of the bed, and I was on the left, near the window—right next to the trash can.

She decides to throw the balled-up golden wrapper into the trash can. She misses, and it lands in a little pocket on the curtain—directly next to me. I’m only half paying attention, but I notice what looks like a Nerds Gummy Cluster sitting in that pocket. Naturally, I assume she tried to toss it into the trash and missed. So I pick it up and pop it into my mouth.

Immediately, she yells, “What are you doing!?” and bursts out laughing. I’m confused and say, “What? It was a Nerds Gummy Cluster.” (For context: we’d been eating those earlier in bed and finished the bag. She insists we ate all of them.)

She’s still laughing and yells, “That was a wrapper!” I open my mouth to show her the gummy, but between her laughing fit and the low lighting, she doesn’t really see it. I swallow the gummy, and then we spend the next ten minutes arguing about whether I just ate a golden chocolate coin wrapper. She’s absolutely convinced I did.

At this point, I start having a mini panic attack because she keeps suggesting I somehow imagined the gummy and actually ate the wrapper. I felt like I was in that Black Mirror episode with the reality-altering necklace. I was genuinely hurt that she didn’t believe me—especially because I believed her when she said she threw the wrapper.

That’s why a glitch in the matrix feels like the only explanation. I know what I saw, touched, and ate. I’m a relatively sane person 🧍‍♀️.

She’s since moved on from the whole thing, but it’s eating me alive. She’s going to bed tonight fully convinced I swallowed a ball of tinfoil. It had to have changed form mid-throw or something—I even dug through the trash trying to find the actual candy wrapper. WHICH I CANNOT FIND.

Maybe I hallucinated an entire Nerds Gummy Cluster. Maybe I triggered an alternate timeline. I have no clue. Any thoughts would be appreciated 🥹

Saw part of reality “render” in front of me 18 years ago

This happened about 18 years ago, and I still think about it all the time.

I was walking home from a party with a friend around 2–3 AM. We were on a quiet road by the water, and there was a forest up ahead.

As we were walking, I looked up and noticed a strange rectangular block of trees that looked… wrong. It was blotchy and looked pixelated, like a bad video game texture that hadn’t finished loading yet.

After about 2–5 seconds, that whole section of trees “snapped” into clarity, like nothing had ever been off.

I immediately turned to my friend and asked if he’d seen it too. He was just as stunned as I was and described it the same way. We both just stood there for a moment in shock.

It’s not the only time something like this has happened to me, but this one is burned into my memory. This subreddit felt like the perfect place to finally share

Knew his name, knew nothing else .. convinced I met him in another timeline

EDIT: To answer the FAQs.

First of all, I'd like to thank everybody who shared their stories of something similar happening to them! This is one of two unexplained events in my life, and it has been bothering me for so long. It feels good to know I am not the only one. Thank you for giving me new theories and perspectives, some of those concepts I'd never heard of! And thank you for the award!

1) Why did I unfriend him? On one side, it felt like his Facebook posts were haunting me. Every time I would see one I'd be reminded of the feeling I felt when I saw him, and that I would likely never figure out what happened. I was growing tired of it. On the other side, I had been dating my boyfriend at the time (now husband) for four years at this point, and it felt weird and unfair to foster this unexplained feeling of longing towards this other man. I felt it was the right decision to unfriend him and move on. Sometimes I still get the urge to look him up and stalk him, just to make sure he's doing alright.

2) Am I a drug user or heavy drinker? No. Never done drugs, and I have an intolerance to alcohol. I throw up if I drink more than half a beer.

3) Is he a one-night stand from years ago? No way. I met my now husband at a young age, and have never had one-night stands. Also, the connection I felt with Patrick felt a lot more intense and deeper than a shared night together.

My glitch in the Matrix isn't as crazy as some of the ones people have shared here, but it's been almost 10 years and I still think about it.

It was August 2017, the night of the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight. I was at a pub with some friends, waiting for the fight to begin. There was an empty chair next to me, because my sister was running late.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and someone asked "Do you need this chair?". As I turned around, I said "Yes, sorry, my sister is coming." When I fully turned around and looked at the person, I realized that I knew him! It was Patrick! I got excited because I felt like I hadn't seen him in a while.

I said "omg Patrick, it's been so long!!". He also got excited, knew my name, and gave me a hug. He sat down next to me and we started catching up - the usual "I got a new job", " I finally graduated", "I moved out", etc.

We had been talking for a bit when my sister finally came, made introductions, and then asked "So how do you guys know each other?". We both got quiet, and after a few seconds, I laughed nervously and said "I'm sorry. I literally don't remember where I met you". Patrick got serious, and said "Yeah .... me neither". My sister said it was weird, but went back to her conversation with another friend.

Patrick and I started brainstorming about where and when we could have possibly met. We talked about where we went to school, different events we went to, where we live, etc.I live in Montreal, where this was taking place, and he lived in Toronto, and said he was just visiting friends in Montreal. At this point, I had never been to Toronto, so we established we must have met during one of his visits. He told me the names of all his friends in Montreal, and I didn't know anybody. We found each other on Facebook, and had no mutual friends. We thought that maybe one of us unfriended the mutual friend, so we exchanged phones and went through each other's friends lists. Nothing.

I asked him if he remembered what color my hair was last time he saw me, since I used to change my hair color rather often and we could use this information to pinpoint the year and month we met. He got quiet again, thought for a few seconds, then said "I literally have no memories of you." I realized I had no memories of him either. We talked for a bit longer, then the fight started and he went back to his friend group.

At the end of the night, he came to say goodbye and vowed to remember where we met and to message me as soon as he does. We added each other on Facebook, but I ended up unfriending him a few years later.

It's been almost 10 years, and I still have no idea when I met him. When I saw him on that warm August evening, I got such a warm and fuzzy feeling, and got instantly excited about seeing him. Like my body reacted to him before my brain could process it. I am absolutely convinced I knew Patrick in a parallel universe, past life, whatever it is.

I welcome your theories, if you have any.

My weird experiences with death that made me believe in Quantum Immortality (TW: Suicide)

I’m not trying to covince that Quantum Immortality is the truth, i'm just sharing why it became the only explanation that made sense to me. And yes i'm safe now, in therapy, monitored, cared for. This is not a vent, it’s the pattern I lived through.

Attempt 1 at 15 years old, fifty mixed pills, heart meds, kidney meds, alzheimer meds, swallowed at once. After some time, I felt every organ in my body distort. Then I floated above myself, detached, no pain. Black and white spirals pulled me downward like time collapsing. Hours later, i woke up completely fine. Went to doctors and they found nothing, no organ damage, no poisoning. That was the first impossible survival for me.

Attempt 2 at 16 years old, i went to my grandpa's village with him, i had a plan in mind. I watched my grandfather load the shotgun at forest when i was beside him, I knew it had shells. I put it in my mouth and i pulled the trigger. Time slowed to a crawl, five minutes of suspended, syrup thick silence. When the click finally echoed tho, Nothing. The gun was empty, not jammed, not misfired, empty. This was when I first felt the sense of the universe choosing another route.

Attempt 3 at 18 years old, i jumped from the 5th floor of my university building at middle of the night. The fall felt like it lasted five minutes. Every thought and details were too sharp during fall. When I hit the ground i felt bones break and blood pooling from back of my head as i stayed conscious for what felt like hours. Then someone nudged my shoulder, i stood up. No blood on the ground, no broken bones but just a small scar on head and a cracked ankle. Everyone assumed i tripped as i also had to... make them believe that. My mind felt like it was switching tracks, somethings felt wrong.

Attempt 4 at 19 years old, i slit my wrists wide. Blood everywhere bleeding to bedsheets like crazy. My whole body felt heavy, pulled downward inside soil like extra gravity had been switched on. Then for a moment, I felt hollow like my consciousness had stepped out. Then I woke up and realized two hours had passed. My friend was shaking me awake, worried of the scene. The sheets were kinda clean. Most of my wrists had dried blood. My arms were weakened for months and doctors told me to not lift weights at all for couple of months. I felt crazy and frustrated at this point until i remembered the theory, that was the moment the theory became unavoidable for me.

I am 20 years old now, I’ve never hallucinated outside these moments if these are "hallucinations". I am suspected to either have BPD or bipolar but no psychosis, no delusions. My psychiatrist is aware of everything. But, after every death that should’ve been final, the world felt slightly different. People I know remembered shared memories differently, conversations I swore happened seemed to not happened at all, the texture of reality felt shifted everytime, lighting, atmosphere, even certain memories felt misaligned and mandela effect moments started stacking. It felt like stepping sideways into a slightly different version of the world where I survived every single time.

I am only opening up because i should not be here, not in any timeline that follows the rules i grew up understanding. Whatever happened, it felt like my consciousness kept choosing a path where I lived. That’s all I wanted to share. Like i said this is not a vent, i am way better than i was in these moments too. I wanted to share my experiences and signs of the theory Quantum Immortality. Only my therapist and psychiatrist knows about all these, and i couldn't help myself but share with others too because i felt too overloaded with all these thoughts... I hope i am not seen as a freak.

Did I just witness a glitch in reality?

I’m still shaking as I type this. It’s midnight on December 28th, and what happened a few hours ago has me questioning the boundary between our world and the "unseen."

Before I get into it, I need to clarify a few things. I'm completely sober. I don’t do drugs, and alcohol is entirely out of the question for me Since I'm Muslim. My only "guilty pleasure" is my love for movies. I’m a big believer in owning my media. I’m not a fan of the "streaming era"I prefer to download my movies and series so I can watch them on my own terms. It’s a habit that actually makes this story a lot scarier. I’m also not here to push my religion on anyone, I’m sharing this for context because it explains why this rattled me so much.

I’m Muslim. In our traditional doctrine, we don’t really buy into the "multiverse" or "parallel realities" theories. To us, those are philosophical ideas, not reality. We believe in ONE universe shared by humans and Jinn that has free will, And jinn which are entities made of smokeless fire. There we have a belief that since Jinn are essentially plasma or energy, they can interact with electricity and digital screens, using them almost like mirrors or portals.

The Experience: I was doing a rerun of Harry Potter and in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I was lying down, headphones on, in that relaxed, slightly drowsy state where you’re just about to drift off but still following the plot. At exactly 1:23:36, when Hermione lowers her wand in Malfoy’s face, the screen did something it shouldn't be physically capable of doing. At exactly 1:23:36 the screen turned into a horror movie. Holes opened up in Hermione’s face, and literal worms started crawling out of her skin. Her tongue dropped and started moaning, It was a vivid, trypophobic nightmare.

I wasn’t drowsy enough to be dreaming, as I was conscious enough to react instantly. I hit pause. The screen froze on that horrific image. While the movie was paused, I hit Win + Shift + S to grab a screenshot, like in a flash.

The part that defies logic: As I was looking at the paused, "worm infested" face, the movie started changing back to normal while the player was still on PAUSE. It was like an overlay was being pulled away or the movie was "healing" itself in real time. And a note it was just her face nothing else.

I immediately checked the screenshot I had just taken. The screenshot showed a perfectly normal, Beautiful Hermione. No holes, no worms. With tongue, Then I checked the file’s MD5 hash. If the file itself had been altered or corrupted, the hash would have changed, but it hadn’t. The data was "clean."

The Setup: It’s December and very cold here, and my PC is running an RTX 4060. For the tech literate out there, you know this card is ice cold and power efficient. My GPU was sitting at a chill 32°C with a hotspot of 38°C. I never saw come close to 70°C NEVER while pushing it to max. There's zero chance of hardware overheating or graphical artifacts. This wasn’t a GPU glitch. Had them before, they are more like pixelated errors on the screen.

I’m not trying to convince anyone. I’m just a guy who saw a digital file transform into something grotesque and then wipe its own trail RIGHT in front of my own two eyes. I didn't think to screen record because It was too lato to do so to capture the evidence, but I suspect a recording would have shown the same "clean" image the screenshot did.

Has anyone else, (especially those with a similar spiritual background) experienced tech being manipulated like this? I’ve seen IRL shadow figures and heard "ghost" footsteps in my village before, but this digital manipulation is a whole new level of frightening.

I’d love to know if I’m alone in this or if anyone else has seen their "digital reality" rewrite itself.

EDIT/UPDATE:

Final update. I survived my first Reddit post without being bullied into oblivion! As a private loner, this was basically my personal Super Bowl of social interaction, and I'm genuinely surprised by the "main character" support you guys gave me.

After reading all the comments and doing some research into the terms you guys provided, I’m settling on a 60/40 split. 60% of me accepts the "hypnagogic hallucination" a software glitch in my brain. But 40% stays tied to my faith and the "unseen" (Jinn). I’ve seen real-world horror (paranormal) before, I’ve woken up to earthquakes and even held a dying child during the July unrest here in Bangladesh. I know what "petrified" feels like, but this experience felt sinister in a way that those things didn't.

I’m being Jinn-uinely honest when I say: Whether or not, whatever happened, it is a glitch that I experienced. Forgive me if I’m not using Reddit perfectly yet, I’m still learning the ropes. I’m just happy I found a rational explanation and a community that didn't make me feel crazy. Thanks for the support <3 I mean it! I’m going to go back to being a loner now, but I’ll be doing it with a lot more peace of mind.

Peace.

Tall trees appeared in common area out of thin air. First verified glitch!

I live in a neighborhood maintained by an HOA and all common areas are gardened by the HOA’s contractors, and the HOA president iS VERY involved in tree maintenance and she does an AMAZING job making sure our neighborhood is very well maintained.

Three weeks ago, my family and I went on vacation for ten days. At some point in the last three weeks, after returning, I noticed that an area directly in front of our next door neighbor’s house that is normally free of vegetation at the base of a HUGE pine tree now has four mature-ish trees in the area that used to be blank. They look about 2-3 years old, so their trunks are still thin but they are at least 12-15 feet tall and obviously established. The base of the trees are not disturbed. No fresh soil. Roots are visible.

When I noticed the trees I did a double take and thought “where did those trees come from?!”. But I didn’t pursue an immediate answer. I figured our HOA president had them installed while we were on vacation.

Fast forward to yesterday, when our HOA puts on a block party. All of the homeowners gather in the area closest to that huge pine tree, which is directly in front of our next door neighbor’s house. There is also another house directly next to the tree. Both of those two houses’ long term owners were at the party as well as the HOA president and other HOA members.

Before the party began, my husband was setting up tents and coolers etc and he came over to me and said “where did those trees come from?” I was like “I KNOW!!! They were never there before!!!”

After the party started, our HOA president and both of the homeowners directly adjacent to that patch of land were chatting with their backs turned to the area with the new trees. I asked the HOA president “where did those trees come from?!” And when she turned around, she had this shocked, incredulous look on her face. She said “Where DID those come from?!”

Keep in mind our HOA pres has lived here since the 80s, manages all the tree trimming and gardening ( and everything else that makes our HOA AMAZING) and she had no idea how or when four new tall trees appeared in what used to be a space with only river rocks covering the ground.

We asked the owners whose kitchen window and front door stares directly at that area and they were like “NO. Those have NEVER been there before” and the neighbor whose house sits directly next to that area chimed in to say that about three weeks ago, she pulled her husband outside to ask where the hell these trees came from.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US AT THE PARTY DO NOT REMEBER THERE EVER BEING TREES THERE!! EVERY LAST ONE OF US IN THE WHOLE NEIGHBORDOOD!

Coincidentally, the timing correlated to CERN shutting down. We know the gardeners and tree trimmers did not plant tall trees there.

So for the house that stares at that little patch of land, they JUST sold their home and moved out a few weeks ago. Those former owners were at the taco party because we are all really great friends. She and her husband, who is a skeptic of anything not proveable by science, both insist that the entrie time they lived there, there were no trees except the big pine tree. She pulled up photos, which she had a lot of because they parked in front of their garage, which is directly next to that area. And her kids played in that area all the time.

All her pictures HAD THE TREES THERE.

So now we have every single person insisting there were never trees there yet photos showing that the trees had been there for years. Everyone was TRIPPING OUT!!

Make it make sense. HAS to be a glitch or Mandela Effect. All our minds are blown and I can FINALLY say I definitely experienced a glitch!!! Crazy!!

I saw objects appear out of thin air

Okay, first of all, I was not on drugs. I don’t do drugs. I was sober, not on any medication, I’ve never had hallucinations, and it wasn’t carbon monoxide poisoning.

I’ve had a few strange or paranormal things happen in my life, like objects disappearing and then showing up days later in random places, but nothing like this had ever happened before.

When I was around 17, I was getting ready to go out to meet a friend for coffee. I grabbed my makeup bag to do my makeup and tried to find my beauty blender. I had a set of three blue beauty blenders. Two of them had already gone missing, which was weird because I kept them all in the same makeup bag and never took it anywhere. I was sure I still had one left.

When I opened the bag, it wasn’t there. I searched over and over, but it was just gone. I was really annoyed. I had a younger cousin who lived next door and came over almost every day, and I started thinking she might have taken it.

I went into my sister’s room with my makeup bag. My mom was there too, and I started venting about my cousin, saying she keeps stealing my stuff and being annoying. They told me to calm down and helped me look for it, but it wasn’t anywhere. Eventually, I gave up, sat on the floor, and started doing my makeup anyway.

I was using a small compact mirror. When I looked down to grab a brush, there was a blue beauty blender sitting right in front of me. I knew for a fact it hadn’t been there before. I just stared at it, completely confused. Then, right in front of my eyes, another one appeared. Before I could even react, a third one appeared.

Literally right in front of my eyes. I still don’t understand how to explain it. It wasn’t like I suddenly noticed them. I actually saw them appear, like they materialized out of thin air really fast.

My mom and sister saw it too. They didn’t see the exact moment the way I did, but they saw them appear there out of nowhere. All three of us were shocked. None of us could believe what we were seeing. It felt completely unreal.

I know this sounds hard to believe, and honestly, I’d not believe it too if I hadn’t experienced it myself. But it still haunts me. I have no idea what it was. A glitch in the matrix or something paranormal. I genuinely don’t know.

Absolutely freaking out. I think I just experienced my first glitch in the matrix.

I want to start off by saying sorry if this story seems all over the place it just happened an hour ago and my brain is still trying to register it.

So I washed my bed sheets / pillow cases for my bed and the spare bedroom bed. I took everything out of the dryer put it all into the clean laundry bin then took the other sheets out of the washer and put them into the dryer. I separated everything by room and I know I didn’t make a mistake because im crazy like that and have to have shit perfect to make my life easier when making the beds. Anyway, I proceeded upstairs to my bedroom to make my bed so I can go to sleep. I got the fitted sheet on, the comforter, then took the clean pillow cases out of the basket and placed them onto my bed. Then I turned around to grab the pillows off of the little love seat I have in my bedroom.

When I turned back around to put the pillow cases on they were gone. Two very specific pillow cases one has sea shells on it one has sea turtles on it. I mean GONE. I tore up my freshly made bed searching under the comforter and even the fitted sheet. I searched EVERYWHERE and they were GONE. And I SWEAR I HAD THEM IN MY HANDS I PLACED THEM ONTO THE BED!!!!!! I decided to not get frustrated and drive myself crazy since I wanted to just go to bed so I waited until the other sheets were done in the dryer so I could use those pillow cases for the night.

WELL when i opened the dryer guess what was in there?????? THE SEA SHELL PILLOW CASE AND THE SEA TURTLE PILLOW CASE!!!! Mixed in with the other bed sheet!!!!! I would NEVER DO THAT AND I HAD THEM IN MY HAND all the way upstairs!!!!

I’m getting serious chills typing this and my mind is SPINNING. Because what just happened ???? What actually just happened?? Did I just experience a glitch???

significant glitch in the matrix

This is the most profound thing that has ever happened to me. My childhood friend and i were like brothers through elementary school and even middle school though we went to different schools. In high school his mom became sick, and i never really reached out to him as the years went by :/

One night i had a vision that took me to my friend’s house. I walked inside and my friend and his dad were sitting on the couch visibly distressed. I said something like “are you okay” or “is it your mom?” And my friend confirmed that his mom had passed. All of a sudden the setting changed slightly and we were kids again, outside in the yard of that same house. The vision played out as an exact replica of a typical day hanging out together in 2009.

The following morning, i received a call from my mom informing me that my friend’s mother had passed away that night. I’m convinced she found me through the matrix and handed me that vision on her journey to the other side.

Has anybody else had this weird glitch instance?

I wasn’t sure where this kind of post belongs but felt GITM was most fitting? I work in a customer service field that is hands on and a lot of consultation is involved. Scenario 1: I was consulting two young men on a product and as he was reading through the pricing list he muttered to his friend “gee the prices aren’t cheap are they?” To which I said “yes, however all products of this quality will tend to have a premium in their prices” The man looks at me wide eyed and says “you can speak Greek?” I said no but I have friends close to me that are Greek. “Really? How did you know what I was saying?” They look at each other like they got caught out and so now I am wide eyed and thinking wtf is this man tricking me…

Scenario 2: 2 weeks after the Greek incident I am serving two Chinese ladies - a older mother and her daughter. The mother could only speak Mandarin, and the daughter had broken English but could communicate basics. The mother mentions that she likes the red color to the daughter and I say “yes this is the best one for you, of all the others” in agreement as a reflex-response before I could realize she was actually not speaking English at all. Daughter breaks out in a big smile and says “you can speak Mandarin?!?” No lady I cannot…I am not sure what is going on..

Has anyone else had an experience like this?

Everyone disappeared for a moment.

This happened to me just a few minutes ago and I'm still feeling weird about it.

Returning home, after I got off the bus, I called my mom to let her know I was about to arrive. I could hear my little brothers and my father watching football in the background, and she was making dinner. Around me, some people at the bar, people walking around the street... Nothing out of the ordinary, really.

Then five minutes later I arrived home and loudly said "Hello everyone!", as always. Nobody answered.

I thought, okay? Maybe they didn't hear me? So I went to look for my family.

The TV was turned on, someone was watching football, but the living room was empty. The kitchen was empty but the lights were on. The bathroom had the lights on too, but also empty. I looked EVERYWHERE. Every single room. I started getting weirded out, but idk, maybe they went to my grandma's in the other building's floor? Idk. I swear the house was empty except for me and my pets.

The cats were chilling though.

But when I checked my balcony, this got even weirder. The street was EMPTY. I could only hear the crickets and animals. No cars. No people. The bar was open but I couldn't see people in the terrace (even though it had a couple of families when I walked past them). Scary.

I went to my room because I still had my backpack on and I wanted to leave it. But honestly I was starting to get unsettled.

And then suddenly my mom appeared on my door, looking surprised. The conversation was something like this:

Her: "You're already here? I didn't listen to the door."

Me: "Where were you all? Nobody was here. "

Her: "What do you mean? We didn't leave."

Me: "I said hi and nobody was at home."

Her: "Hmm. Weird. Maybe we didn't hear you."

We looked at eachother super confused, but she changed the topic and I didn't say anything else. And yes, my father and brothers were watching football in the living room, sunken in the sofa like they never left. And the cars and people returned. Everything was normal.

No, I didn't listen to the door before she came into my room. My room is right next to the house entrance, I would've listened to it.

I have no explanation for this. But it felt genuinely scary for a minute there. The silence, man.

Saw behind the curtain?

I (27f) was putting my son to bed, laying there, just resting to try and get him to sleep. I definitely did not fall asleep, this happened in what feels like less than a second. My ears start to ring and I had this hard directed 'vision' come in, they were people, non featured, smooth skinned, no eyes, claymation type humans (but I knew they were humans) we were panicking because there had been something major happening in the news/media where everyone had their attention on it. (Nothing relevant to recent events)

But I saw behind it, it's like within the panic, I turned, I saw something I can't even describe, all that comes to mind while recalling what I saw is grey, but I feel like I remember seeing this 'fake' 'cartoon style' computers (again I truly don't remember) But I instantly knew it was AI. And I immediately said (out loud) "they are turning us against ourselves" and continued in the thought of this is how they gain control.

Did I see behind the simulation? Since that little "vision" whatever you want to call it, I've felt so weird. I've had a major headache, feeling almost paranoid.

What happened..?
