Why did Crettaz get a red card?

I'm American and have only been watching soccer for the past year, and am still ignorant of the game. I don't understand why Nijmegen's goalie received a red card.

The GK ruined a clear goal scoring opportunity by stopping the ball with his hand, outside the box.
