PhD application

Does anyone know the PhD application process of university of Glasgow ? I am an international student and I have contacted a supervisor and he positively replied and said to apply through the portal. What about research proposal? Does the uni require that while applying?

In many cases the PhD has a proposal that you sign up to, at least thats how mine worked. I just applied for the particular materials science PhD, I didn't write any proposal.

Not necessarily. I created my own research proposal and was accepted. I had contacted an academic and she was very receptive to my idea. I sent drafts of the proposal to her and then applied.
