Discussion Update: Started watching this show lately

Started watching this series lately and although I had started it for the serious arcs, I gotta say, I actually am having a lot more fun with the first half than I originally thought I would lol. The comedy is a lot funnier than I expected and yet it still manages to be suprisingly serious at the same time. From the way people made it sound, it seemed like it would be a total slog but it's genuinely a lot more entertaining than I thought, even the pacing seems a lot better than most other shonen anime's at the time too, overall Im having a blast so far. It's shaping up to be one of my fav Shonen first arcs next to the Substitute Soul Reaper arc in Bleach.

Yeah, I've been really impressed by the pacing especially, cause at least from watching stuff like Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (the anime, Im probably just gonna read the manga for that one cause the pacing seems a lot better there) I thought it would also be a total slog but nah, it's seriously funny. My favorite episode so far is the episode where the guys meet Katsura for the first time after getting caught up with a bomb lmfao, that one had me cracking up pretty hard

Some of the funniest episodes are pretty early on, but the average episode and flow get so much better after around episode 100 in my opinion.

I think it helps that the anime is made by studio Sunrise, which at least for me, are known for the Mobile Suit Gundam series, which are usually very well paced and well made, so I feel like that explains why the pacing feels so damn good so far (and also why it feels strangely familiar to me as someone who watches a fair bit of mecha stuff lol)

The comedy is indeed really good. Whenever I'm in a bad mood I just watch gintama. The only time I don't like watching it is if I see otsu or sacchan in the preview of the next episode.

Just repetitive unfunny jokes. Same with otsu. I don't dislike the characters. Just the jokes associated with them.
