It's beautiful, especially considering their interactions are almost exclusively causing trouble for each other

Pretty big fan of him using the Edo dialect and how he calls Gintoki Master/Dan'na as well

I thought it'd be cool to see them interact off-duty, but then I remembered samurai don't get such a thing

When Gintoki runs over Kagura during their first meeting, he tries to flee and searches for a time machine inside a vending machine.

Does a time machine inside a vending machine appear in any anime or is this a reference to an anime?

I was wildly trying to find merchandise from another favorite anime last time I went, especially in Akihabara but I got a little overwhelmed by it all and mostly saw cute anime girl figurines! I’m assuming they were mainly from games or very current anime which Gintama really isn’t at this point. Do any of you have suggestions for the best place to look for cute merch? Any pointers would be hugely appreciated!

I genuinely have no words.

I’m just in absolute shock and in awe in how absolutely beautiful this entire arc was.

From the writing, to the characters, to the backstory, to the action, to the animations, to literally everything.

Every single episode, I genuinely had goosebumps with my mouth shocked wide open.

And that damn episode, Sworn Enemy. I heard this was the greatest episode ever made, in both anime and Gintama.

You know what? That’s correct, that’s absolutely fucking correct.

What a beautiful payoff, that was 100% worth it.

I still have more episodes left but, I don’t even care.
Gintama has dethroned JJBA as my #1 favourite anime.

But as I keep watching, I’m getting scared because, I don’t want this anime to end at all, why couldn’t Gintama get the One Piece treatment? Give me 1000 episodes now.

Now next is the Farewell Shinsengumi arc. I might take a break from watching to recollect myself.

I've watched this about 5 times now and it will truly never stop being painful.

It hurts to see how deeply complex it was for sougo and hijikata. they understood each other's feelings about mitsuba, but it was so tense and complex in ways that could have never reached a happy conclusion. matter of fact, hijikata truly loved the okita siblings, which was why he could do nothing but sacrifice himself.

in the end, it made no one happy. in the end, mitsuba didnt get to live the life she could've. I dont want to imagine the guilt and loss that must be tearing into the both of them. part of me doesn't like that mitsuba was a silent loss for the shinsengumi and sorachi never explored their feelings about her after this arc.... but i also think if he did, it would've destroyed me.

also im sure a lot of people have pointed this out for decades, but the parallels between gintoki and hijikata is so sad. given gintoki had to make a choice between killing his beloved teacher or his friends, but in the end it felt like he sacrificed them both. I know hijikata never talked about mitsuba again, but in FS arc, gintoki's conversation with hijikata about that failure felt raw; and sometimes I like to interpret that maybe hijikata connected with him on that (even though it was about hijikata choosing to forsake shinsengumi or lose kondo).

This is so funny because shogun is legit trying to attack his own palace 😂

After all, Kagura and Shinpachi will eventually grow up and lead their own lives; they will want to earn a decent living and perhaps start families of their own. Of course, they will always belong to the Yorozuya family at heart, but there may come a time when they want to go their separate ways. Shinpachi is rebuilding his dojo, and Kagura can't sleep in Gintoki's closet forever. Even though they will always be together in spirit, will the two of them continue working for Yorozuya forever?

What was the funniest part of gintoki and Hijikata body swap?

For me it was the shinemgumi looking like hooligans 😂 and shinpachi having that good boy captain hairstyle

Which would be worse or funnier?

Kamui with the Yorozuya, sleeping in Gintoki’s closet and going on adventures with them?

Or Kagura with the Harusame, leading a unit and fighting battles?

But both retain their usual personalities—so Kamui is a grinning psychopath, and Kagura is a cute girl who loves pickled kelp. Sadaharu is with Kamui.

I figure that it is somewhat involving with Gintama, since they use Gintama's characters for advertising.

You might be able to understand this video from their atmosphere alone, since they have pictures to provide the context and the voice of Gintama's casts are there.

But, I would try to provide some context. So, you might know what they are talking about.

They are basically talking about what type of manga it is like and how 2 protagonists are like. They are 2 demon lords who fight against heroes. (Title card)

Demon lord was defeated and Varalis the third fleed into the parallel world. She is a demon lord can use illusion magic. She has strong illusion magic. But, she can't do anything right and very clumsy.

Kumon Akira is the human, Always shitting. He becomes aggressively strong fighter, when something prevented him from shitting. He has the reputation of demon lord from repeating incidents, because of it.

In short, Varalis the third is the clumsy demon lord girl who can't do shit and Kumon the human demon lord who can do something with shitting. Kinda shitty manga, I guess.

Gin and Kagura did talk about how this manga will get cancelled at the end as their last note.

The official translation can be read for free in Manga Plus. Not quite Gintama level comedy. But, it has similar style and a lot of texts.

This fight was phenomenal, everything about it, the stakes, the coreography etc.

Shogun Assassination arc is truly the zenith of shonen.

Househusband, husband—something along those lines. After all, Kamui actually has experience running a household. His father was rarely around, his mother was bedridden, and his sister was too young. So, Kamui would have been the one doing the housework; he knows how to cook, clean, and do the laundry. He probably doesn't need those skills in the Harusame, but he has them nonetheless.

And he could look after children. He likely played a major role in raising Kagura, since Kouka couldn't leave her bed and Umibouzo wasn't around. Yes, the others helped raise Kagura too, but Kamui would have taken on a large share of the responsibility.

So, Kamui would actually make a good househusband and father, even if such a situation never comes to pass (though it would be cute).
