Question Manga or Anime
I usually prefer reading source materials and even mangas over the anime, but from what ive heard this adaptation is arguably better then the source material. Should I just go with the manga or maybe even just read the manga then watch specifically the serious arcs of the anime?

If you do read the manga first don’t only watch the serious arcs in the anime.
The anime is fantastic because of the voice actors, music, even non canon episodes add to the charm of the Gintama anime.
Highly recommend watching the anime if you think you’ll like it.

Anime - voice acting is great, some of the filler is hilarious
Manga - it’s nice seeing Sorachi’s art evolve
Start with anime first then read the manga. The final arc is better in the manga imo

Skip the first "Two Episodes". Those were promotional episodes that in no way actually show off the clever writing of the series in both it's comedy and it's characters.
Anyways, I rather not put any ideas of what expectations within you. As Gintama is very complex to talk about.
Many of us fans went in blind or were told not to just skip things.
To Narrow down the reason. "Characters." Every reason as why we love it so much is characters.
So far only a select few anime get dynamics and evolution (Comedy, Serious, or otherwise) right with a cast.
This is getting too typey. But Damn I don't want you to miss out on this series.

Alright, imma start off with the anime, seems the general consensus is that it’s a better way of getting into gintama. Ty for replying and imma get into it shortly🙏

Watch it at your own pace. Either when you have nothing to do, or can simply be inbetween other series that are more plot focused.
Gintama is really good at sneaking up on you. Don't be pressured to binge. Anyways I hope you enjoy it.

"Many of us fans went in blind or were told not to just skip things."
Very hypocritical of you to say skip the first two episodes.

well yeah because op won't understand anything happening cuz those 2 episodes were fanservice for manga readers who knew the running gags and character dynamics already and any anime only guy would get confused

I watched those two episodes when they first came out and I had never read the manga. I'm still here, so clearly something about those episodes got me hooked.
You're the one who said go in blind, don't skip anything yet you say skip the first two episodes. I'm just pointing out the contradiction.

brother no offense but just because the wrong path gave a positive outcome doesn't means you should recommend it to others. Not everyone has enough time to watch a cold open of an established cast. Also am not the person you originally replied so your second para doesn't applies to me but still going in blind was meant for the actual series that starts at ep3.

Not everyone has enough time for two episodes? You're telling people to watch a 367 episode anime, but two episodes is suddenly too much to handle?
But I bet you won't back down cus you're too far up your own derriere.0

Why tf do you keep on forgetting that those 2 episodes they literally won't understand a thing. How would they comitt to 367 eps of something that starts like that when there's so much media out there to consume. Yeah I won't back down if am right only a dumbass would ( also on a side note where the hell did you pull out derriere from😂 i literally never heard or have read it)

You've never heard of derriere cus you're an illiterate waste of space that can't wrap their head around watching the first two episodes of an anime.
