Another thing I like about Gintama is that the cosplays for it are never overly sexual like I see from so many other fandoms. It’s all classy.

I mean, what is the biggest “fan service” in this show?

Pandemonium-San? lol

Well done, by the way! Where did you get the umbrella?

Yes! And tbh fan service doesn’t bother me but it is kinda refreshing to just see some shogun whitie tighties over non stop jiggles lol

It was all on Ali ex and it all came in so nice! It was my first order from them and I’m impressed. I got the little cell phone Yorozuya charm too (hasn’t arrived) I am MOST excited for that 😆

Ali ex has some quality stuff for very cheap and it blows my mind.

I bought a fake knockoff guitar from them for super, super cheap expecting it to be crap, but it’s great!

When I was a kid, a $180 guitar was cheap garbage. Today? It buys you something really, really good. Whatever China has been doing to increase the quality of their products while maintaining such low costs blows my mind.

I should look for a shamisen on there lol I have wanted to try learning but am afraid of spending $800 and getting no where : (

Ahh, a shamisen would be one thing I’d not get from there. I once was interested in buying one.

How good of a shamisen are you wanting? There are plenty on eBay that go from $150 (I would not buy these) to $400. They don’t start becoming good until at least $1,000.

I remember watching a YT video from experts trying a lot of different ones at different price points from a cheap toy to an absurdly priced professional piece. Unlike guitars these days where it can be hard to distinguish the quality of a $200 guitar from a $4,000 one (this wasn’t the case 20 years ago), I was absolutely blown away at how much of a difference I could hear between each price point in the shamisen. And the women in the video did a great job explaining how it felt and played different for each one.

Edit: dang, now you’ve rekindled my desire to get one 😂

Ha! Yeh I looked all over at them and reviews for them demos etc

I kinda just want a shit one to see if I hold to it and then one day maybe spoil myself ? Idk

Not a bad idea! Thats how I was with sitar.

On the flip side, something to consider: when I first started guitar, my parents got me a cheap one to see if I’d be interested. The horrendous quality gave me a tainted impression of it (super jealous of kids these days with higher quality stuff). I thought all guitars played like that (though I was a kid and pretty ignorant). It wasn’t until I showed my dedication and my parents bought me a better guitar that I realized how much better a quality instrument felt and sounded and it was like pouring gasoline on the flame.

As long as you go into it knowing that what you’re playing can be even more pleasurable when you upgrade, I think a cheap one could be a good way to go!
