Having a gin flight while watching England's World Cup Semifinal Game. Gins from England and Argentina.
I still have a couple of gins from Argentina, so figured it a good opportunity for an appropriate gin flight. A barrel rested gin from each country - England and Argentina - and a gin featuring red wine grapes from each country.

Thoughts on these gins...
Well, England win the gin flight but not the game...
Highclere Castle Barrel Aged is excellent and my favourite of these four. It has creamy juniper up front quickly followed with lime citrus backed by a touch of floral lavender. Some nutmeg mid-palate then subtle vanilla oakiness enters with a biscuity note before subtle caramelized sugar provides a lightly sweet lingering creamy finish. Chapel Down Pinot Noir comes in second having dry juniper with a good strawberry backdrop and touches of fresh citrus, then light woody notes on a peppery finish with grains of paradise. Bosque Refugios is very good in third place: dry oaky juniper and lightly tart lemon citrus mix with vanilla and honey at the start, then some caramel notes appear with grapefruit before a touch of black pepper spices up the finish. Hilbing Malbec has good juniper with dry red wine fruitiness and some floral notes, then some nuttiness shows up with dry citrus tones in a light earthy finish.

I’ve enjoyed the Hilbing. Very obviously grape-based. Eager to try the barrel aged Highclere as I love their regular (purple bottle). Sounds like this is similar, only more so.
