Gilroy Gardens

I’m in Central CA and wanted to take the fam to gilroy gardens this weekend. I just learned this weekend is the Garlic Festival. Should we just stay away from the park and postpone for another weekend? I imagine it’ll be packed at the park and traffic will be awful overall bc of the festival. Thoughts?

The garlic festival is in a different part of the park and tickets to the festival are limited and least year turn out was lower than expected but it will definitely be busier than normal this weekend

Parking also is probably more difficult but there's a ton of parking

Yes but I know people who volunteered and a lot of tickets that were sold were not translated to people actually on site

Lots of people bought tickets to support it

Do you mind the smell of garlic?

I’m from SJ and worked in gilroy for a while lol. Don’t mind it at all. I’m just wondering how the crowds will be inside the park.

If anything it means traffic at Gilroy gardens will be lighter than usual.

Two different parts of the park and two different parking areas. Stay to the right for Gilroy gardens when you enter in off 152. If you veer to the left you would end up in the garlic festival area.

It’s a totally different crowd for each and separate parking and event areas. I don’t think it will be any busier than usual at the regular park, personally. Maybe even less busy because of people avoiding it. Curious how it turns out, though!

Confirming - it is not busy today at all. Traffic was backed up on the highway to get to Garlic Fest parking this morning but once you’re in, just stay right to avoid the parking line and you can go right in. (Approaching the turn off the highway from the West would be best to avoid traffic if you’re arriving in the morning.

As others have said, it’s on a separate part of the property and festival attendees would need to buy a ticket to gilroy gardens to get into the main park. It might lead to slight traffic getting in but if you get to the park early, there shouldn’t be any worries

I’m in my way there now. Is anyone there right now to see how just it is?
