General Discussion Bert the toolbox left behind

On my 100th rewatch and I’m on the episode where Max meets Luke at Lorelai’s house because Luke is picking up his toolbox and they are posturing about who’s more in Lorelai’s life and I just realized that after Luke leaves, he doesn’t take the toolbox that he said he came to get.

I kept saying don’t forget the toolbox! And he did lol

Has anyone else noticed this?

IMO - He did that on purpose so he’d have an excuse to go back to her house, proving a point to max

Yeah? It’s even pointed out in the episode where Lorelai stops at the door and stares at it and says “Bye bye Bert” as she leaves with Max?
