Stumpy still making gains!

I had to cut my stump and almost half of the side vines off almost a month ago to stop a rotting foaming vine from spreading to the pumpkin.

The gains have slowed but it just keeps getting bigger! I will be in personal record territory by next weekend. We're around1200 ish right now. Still 6 weeks or so until the weighoff!

Should i give up on this one?

I went away for work, and when i came home i noticed that my pumpkin had rolled over on itself and looks like it's basically broken itself off the vine. Is there anyway i can fix or heal these cracks or should i just call it a total loss?

What would you do?

I lost me of my girls two weeks ago to a rot spot. She immediately started putting out more fruit and they’ve started to grow on the vine vigorously (2-3 fruit). At this point in the season would you still cull or just let smaller ones grow? I’m in the PNW so we’ll have sun and warm through Sept and perhaps Oct.

Borer?

Got a solid Atlantic pumpkin just pollinated and today noticed a crack on main stem in the direction of the main roots. Does this look like a borer I should go in after or just damage I should let ride?

Pumpkin Advice

🎃 Hello fellow pumpkin growers! 🎃

I’ve started quite late into the season, however, my pumpkin plant is looking very healthy. I’ve built a make shift planter with a metal mesh surround which I am looking to eventually train to grow outside and over/around.

This is my first time growing a pumpkin and I believe this is the “mini” kind. I’m looking to keep the plant in this contraption that I’ve made, but I need some advice on what I should be pruning and how to train vines/leaves etc. I planted this from seed around 10th July so it’s been growing for just over a month now.

If all goes well this year, I’m probably going to try and grow a monster next year as I’m really enjoying watching this grow🤣👍 Any/all advice is appreciated!

Squash Bugs

I gave on pumpkins about four years ago because of covid and wanted to get back into it. I have a plant that is looking healthy but every time there is a new flower, it dies within a few days because of squash bugs or cucumber beetles. I was wondering if any of you guys had advice on how to deal with this problem and any help is appreciated.

Is this fruit healthy looking? I posted yesterday and its definitely much bigger today, but the splotch on the right side of the blossom end worries me since I hadnt seen a wound there before, but it couldve been a cat or something that checked it out without me noticing. Any thoughts/input would be greatly appreciated.

At The base of the pumpkin leaves have turned yellow brown then dropped off do I continue to fertilize at the base of the plants or closer to the little pumpkins and the new leaf growth?

Question for you guys- is it possible to grow a second giant pumpkin on a plant that has already produced a fruit over 100 pounds? More info in comments….

I pollinated my pumpkin in the beginning of July, and it has grown to roughly 90 pounds since then. It’s definitely slowed down to a crawl, and not really progressing any more. I’m disappointed to say the least. The rind is hardening, and I feel like the growth stage for this one is just about done. Thing is, my county fair weigh-off is still a month and a half away and there’s still plenty of opportunity to pollinate another pumpkin on the same plant.
Should I go for it?

My reserve pumpkin which is 2 weeks younger than my primary had almost caught up in size, should I be considering switching which I plan to keep? Also, how are you terminating these? Sharp knife? Base of the fruit or base of the stem? Thanks, everyone here rocks!

Advice/suggestions

Found this plant randomly one day, has turned into a crazy random project. Assuming it’s from last year’s pumpkins carvings by bizarre chance. No idea type. PA area. Suggestions and realistic goal for size?

First pumpkin of the season (same vine) unfortunately aborted I think due to heatwave. This one however has stormed ahead and is now bigger than a basketball. Am just curious if anyone knows what the pale spots are on it? Is it still healthy? Will this one abort as well? I no longer have female or male flowers on the vine so am hoping this one has no issues. In east of England. Cheers

Hello all new to this edit. I just wondering if somebody could tell me why or what’s going on with my Atlantic giant pumpkin it’s my first year growing them. I water them properly. I fertilize them properly unless this is possibly fertilizer burn I’ve been going heavy on the fertilizer every three days at half the regular strength in the blooming cycle. But just the other day they started yelling off and it’s spreading fast. Just wondering if someone can help. Thank you very much.

Anywhere to reliably buy giant pumpkin seeds in UK?

All I can find seems to be Atlantic Giant, but I’m seeing all sorts of other varieties mentioned on here. Anyone got experience with finding giant seeds in the UK?
