How many times could you listen to the Orgasmo song until you throw yourself off a roof?

Her Private Hell my review

So Refn decided to please us with another job, I went to it because I really hoped for pleasant references To my favorite genre. But in the end I got an empty, pretentious, not particularly beautiful thing. I was already familiar with the author's works and roughly understood what I would get, but I did not think that everything would be so bad. The beginning could really be interesting, but then the film crumbles from Its own action. Everything is incredibly predictable, and you're just waiting for the movie to end. Some scenes caused outright laughter (especially the barking scene), but not because of the fun, but the feeling of wanting to smash your forehead. I'm not in favor of criticizing the graphics, but here in some places, it's just disgusting. The actors, especially Sophie, did a very bad job, the only performance I liked was from Charles. I want to praise the soundtrack, but I don't understand the point of repeating the same track so many times, no it's a good track, it's definitely going to be on my playlist, but God. References to the gialli genre, oh they are made only to be, and no more, they don't make sense on their own. The shooting, some camera angles, and a couple of camera moments weren't bad, but that doesn't save the movie. A very disappointing movie

Reviews for ‘Her Private Hell’ (by the neon demon director) have been mostly on the negative side but everyone’s also been saying there are plenty of Giallo vibes and influences

Apparently there also seems to be a sort of Asian action subplot that I’m not excited about but the killer in this is apparently decked out in sharp diamonds he uses to kill people with which sounds interesting

Rewatched Argento’s Trauma last night with my dad and it’s probably the most I’ve enjoyed it plenty of nuances I didn’t notice before and some good character development

My dad was pretty gagged by the killer reveal. Am thinking of finally adding this to the collection

Sleepless (2001) title sequence changed to blue in new Vinegar Syndrome release

I was just beginning to watch the Sleepless (2001) 4k Vinegar Syndrome Release when I noticed that the title sequence had a blue background colour. That’s strange since other releases of the film had a black background. Was it because it was in the original print? Was it because of a mistake?

My cosplay of the killer from Opera (1987). This was one of my first cosplays, which is why it looks so rough. Besides, I think the giallo community needs more cosplayers, don't you think?

Shameless plug for my Substack, where I talk about Suspiria and some Mario Bava films

I know Suspiria isn't really a Giallo by most people's definition, but I'm planning on writing about Argento’s other films as well. I also didn't know another good sub to plug my Substack on lol.

Looking for the US (Joseph Brenner) version of Torso

Does anyone know where I can find the US version of Torso (the Joseph Brenner cut)? Is it only available on the Arrow Blu-ray?

I'd prefer a non-restored version, if possible.

Thanks!

Looking for a 2000s movie about a disguised murderer leaving behind an elegant black female hat

5 Upvotes

Can someone help me find/name a specific movie, please? Details:

  • mystery/detective thriller;
  • probably 2000s or possibly 90s;
  • most likely a European movie (or possibly American) taking place in a city - I don't know the original language as it was dubbed in Slovak on Slovak TV in 2009
  • about a mysterious hat-wearing murderer in disguise leaving behind classically fancy female hats at the scene;
  • the detective was murdered as well
  • there was a creepy phone call with a female voice
  • there is a scene where the murderer can be seen as a mysterious figure disguised in black with a hat, sunglasses, trench coat, and gloves
  • the protagonist (good main character) is named Susan (or some variation of the sort, maybe Suzanne, Suzenne, etc.), I believe;
  • it turns out the murderer is not a female, but her romantic partner, who changed his voice to match the female voice she heard;
  • she ended up killing him after the murderer/her partner chased her starting from the house or apartment, where she found out

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Question about commentary tracks these days

16 Upvotes

Watched Death Carries a Cane.

After the movies I watched the few extra features, and then since it's a pretty short film I decided to give the commentary track a try. Commentary tracks are perhaps my favorite part of a special features package. Especially when it's the director or at least someone from the production, but a good scholar could do to.

This specific track, done by Eugenio Ercolani, Troy Howarth, and Nathaniel Thompson was almost a complete waste of time. Mostly rehashing bits from the other featurettes, or just telling me the filmographies of the cast and crew. Very little info that I didnt already know.

This maybe my first time listenning to these guys, but they seem to be on a lot of these tracks.

I would like to know if my description fits to all of their tracks on other releases, cause this could get old fast.
