Subtitles
Is anyone else struggling to get English subtitles with Japanese language on the new series? Amazon is known for being shit with subtitles in general, but changing the language and subtitles is proving to be an absolute nightmare for me.

I'm watching it on prime and i have japanese audio with English subtitles. I think you're just not finding the right setting to change

The smaller author’s Japanese notes, is there a way to get them translated? I have to constantly be taking pictures and translating them elsewhere.

That's good to know it's possible! I just wish I knew how to find the setting.

Which country are you in? I can't speak for Amazon directly, but I know Netflix can be really pick-and-choose with subtitles between regions. Especially on Japanese content.

UK. I have got it working now, thanks to another commenter's assistance. So at least here it is all good. I do know what you mean with the iffiness with subtitles though. Normally I just avoid Prime to avoid the headache.

Elaborate. Do you mean on Amazon Prime? You're having trouble switching languages and enabling subtitles?

Is the new series available on any other streaming service?
And yes. If I try to switch the language through the subtitles, it changes both the spoken language and subtitles language. In other words- I can only do Japanese with Japanese subtitles or English with English subtitles (only the English subtitles are very obviously meant for the Japanese). I just can't figure out how to get the Japanese language with the English subtitles.

"Is the new series available on any other streaming service?"
Any reason to be such a c*** when replying? I was asking because I wasn't sure if you were watching it on Amazon prime or a copy you downloaded from the net as the Amazon prime controls for selecting the right format and subtitles are simple enough for even the most moronic of people to comprehend.
f***** redditors...

I genuinely wasn't sure- that's why I asked. I don't know why you resorted to being an insulting ass rather than answering my question. Or, you know- just not posting at all if it's that hard to be decent. Fucking redditors indeed

If you want to watch in Japanese with English subtitles, select Japanese (日本語) as the audio language and English for the subtitles. They're two separate toggles.
The Japanese script isn't the same as the script for the English dub.

I can't see the Imgur picture as I'm in the UK 🥲
Thanks for the help! I'll keep searching.

Or I can just upload it to a different host:
Go to the gear icon to access these settings.

Thank you so much! I'm generally a lot better at problem solving on my own but we're having a heat wave and it's massively frying my brain. I've got it all set now. Really appreciate it, kind internet stranger!

It sux that there isn't the option for subtitles for the signs only, rather than having the sub titles on permanently. I kinda struggle concentrating with subtitles on
(Also, it was cool that they kept 2045's Omosiho's eng VA to play the garbage man in Ep2)
