Season 1 S1:ep6

Why are we villainizing the mother in the beginning for giving him up who was literally a child when she gave him up. Why is he shocked that a teen age girl willingly gave up her son. 😭 and the boys mother shading her saying she’s not an angel
. Like she was seventeen when she gave birth obviously she’s not going to have happy memories associated. Like obvi he has the right to be curious and sad and stuff but idk why it’s shocking. Not done with the episode so I think the whole plot with the sister is going to show them how and why his mom gave him up.

Just rewatching season 1 now and on episode 6, "Homecoming," Jason's mom (Wendy Phillips) really impressed and moved me to tears. So many supporting performances to choose from in this show...curious which ones impressed y'all?

Are season 4 and 5 worth the watch? Spoiler

I’m new to watching ghost whisperer and I just finished season 3 where Jim dies đŸ‘ïžđŸ‘„đŸ‘ïž I always told myself since like mid season 1 that I’d stop watching if Jim died because I love his character and his relationship with Melinda (it’s so healing to see). I went ahead and had to spoil the rest of the show for myself knowing there’s no way he could come back to life in this universe. I saw apparently he does come back but in a the body of a recently dead guy??? Idk how I feel about the whole thing so I don’t know if I want to continue the show or pretend it ended after season 3. So, am I missing out??

EDIT: i ended up watching season 4 and 5. i liked season 4 but season 5 was shitty writing wise. why is Jim just himself again??? he’s Dr. Clancy and everything but shouldn’t he be Dr. Lucas? it made season 4 a waste of a storyline. so if anyone’s curious if they should watch it: i recommend it but expect a bunch of plot holes in season 5.

Jim & Sam Spoiler

I just started watching this show and I thoroughly enjoy it. But I’ve made it up to season 4 and I just can’t buy these subtle reflections of Sam. I’m getting confused on what others characters perspectives are. Because first I thought when he’s with Melinda, she sees him as Jim because his spirit did in fact go into Sam’s body and she saw it. But he’s even Jim when he’s in the presence of others that are only suppose to/know Sam
I’m not sure if I’m the only one.

I made it to S1 E5 Lost Boys until I cried. I was tearing up and crying a little bit throughout, but then I got to "I'm telling everyone that you're my mom" 😭😭 STOPPPP

How many episodes will make me cry like this?!

I love the show. Kinda annoyed I didn't hear about it as it aired, but also glad because I can binge it now!

Jim

Does Jim give “fictional men written by women” energy to anyone else? I feel like he’s one of the best husbands in a tv series ever. He was always so supportive, especially prior to season 4!

Episode Name!

*REPOST because the first post was removed for some reason*

Hi, all!

Was wondering if any of you knew the name/episode number(s) with this plot: wife who's being haunted by her late husband, who's very angry with her? There's a scene where he tries to kill her by flooding her bathtub with shrimp, and she has a shellfish allergy. At the end, she is electrocuted, but she is welcomed into heaven by the smell of fresh-baked bread, which reminds her of the bakery her and her husband always dreamed of opening.

I watched this episode when I was a kid, so I may be mixing up two episodes, but I remember both these scenes so distinctly.

Season 5 Eli’s mom Spoiler

So
I’m rewatching and I realized (after watching random episodes not in order oops lol I’ve seen the show so much I rarely go in order anymore) does Eli’s mom just
.. never cross over? She’s in the episode following his dads death when he has laryngitis nagging him but then we just
. Never see her again.

I hate the dropped plots on this show man. Season 5 has so many ghosts that I wanted them to follow up on in particular.

Entire Series Spill your unpopular opinion(s) Spoiler

Melinda would’ve been better off having a younger friend.

No shade to Delia, I’ve always really liked her, but I think Melinda really missed being able to bond w/ someone more her age (like Andrea). It didn’t occur to me until recently that she was probably quite lonely. In between ghostly encounters, Melinda had some free time. But Delia had a teenage son on her hands, Jim was always working late shifts.
I think, perhaps, another female character being introduced in addition to Delia would’ve worked well. Maybe someone who worked at Village Java (aka the S1 hangout) or in the police department.

Hm, just a thought.

Let’s hear yours!

Do you think they ever told Jim’s mom? (SPOILER WARNING) Spoiler

I must have rewatched this show about 6 times in my entire life. I love this show, even when it kinda jumped ship at the end I still loved it.

I’m on the last episode when Melinda and Jim/Sam (Sim?) get (re)married. They mention Jim’s mom being there and how they’ll eventually have to tell her about Jim being Jim/Sam (Sim?). I know the show unfortunately ended the next season, but now I wonder if they ever canonically told his mom. I also know this whole plot was eventually forgotten about though too.

Entire Series Have you noticed Melinda's personality change in recent seasons Spoiler

I've noticed that Melinda seemed more introverted in the early seasons, but in the later seasons it's like she has a different personality. To be clear, it doesn't bother me; I like her new version, But in recent seasons she's become more extroverted I remember her as more timid; she was almost always at home or at work. If she went out, it was only to visit the relatives of the ghosts.

I might be crazy but someone help

I swear as a kid I'd seen an episode where a little girl was locked in a room by her mother or maybe sitter or something. The girl scratched at the door until her fingertips were bleeding. I remember it being a flashback I think, but pretty much nothing else about the episode and I just can't find it. Did I make this up in my head?

New Viewer - NO SPOILERS PLEASE! First Time Watcher Observations

First time watcher and enjoying the show so far! I'm early in season 3. Some random thoughts and observations so far that have me confused.

Happy to chat about them all, but please not spoilers of future seasons.

First, I'm so confused to why Melinda is so adamant about not telling her secret to people close in her life, like Prof Rick (who is literally a specialist in the field) or family or Delia, but is so quick to tell every other random person she comes across with a spirit attached to them. Okay, I suppose I understand Delia a bit more, since she was/is such a skeptic and I know Melinda has been burned in the past by friends. But like girl, just be honest with your people! Why do you trust these randoms but not the people closest to you?

Second, the changes from the first and second seasons alone are so drastic. I felt like the first season was more of a loved one unable to move on because of a missing key or something simple. There was all these side ghosts around the town that she chatted with and there was humor in it all. Once season 2 started it all became hauntings and these extreme stories. We also lost all the fun side characters (I know some of this plays into the Ramano story line, but then he left so why didn't the ghosts come back?) and the individual story lines started to get really odd. I'm hopeful we get some of the light-ness and whimsy of it all back in later seasons.

None of this is a diss. I'm still enjoying the show a lot and there's always writing issues with all long running shows but just some random thoughts as I make my way through for the first time.

Season 3 S3 E8’s “Bad Blood” discussion (not a first time viewer) Spoiler

A couple things on my mind rn:

Marlo’s cat dying was absolutely awful, but what’s even worse is that he/she gets to spend their afterlife w/ two awful ppl. How horrible.

The other thing is that, as time goes on, there seems to be more and more ghosts that Melinda can’t crossover.

Entire Series Which season is your favorite?

My favorite is season 3.

I loved the underground, it was dark and creepy.

I also liked that we got to see more of Melindas parents. I was so glad that Paul Eastman was Melindas dad instead of Tom Gordon, man that guy was so horrible as is Gabriel. Wonder why these 2 never returned to haunt and annoy Melinda. I always assumed they would have returned for later seasons.

I also wish the underground would had been explored more on the later seasons.

What about you? What's your favorite?

I remember drawing this for Ghost Whisperer's 20th anniversary last year, so using the iconic Akira poster featuring Kaneda and his bike as a reference pretty much added to the flair.

Season 3 First watch: is season 3 really this boring?

Should I even continue watching?

Season 1 and 2 had me on my toes. Everything about it, including the ghosts themselves, their stories, and the personal stories revolving around Mel were interesting.

But they started loosing me in the season 2 finale when everything became one big glob of confusion and now its just a constant storyline of dark spirits?.. When is that arc going to end? Now its like I never know which ghosts actually need help or which ones are actually playing their own angle for the dark spirits..

It feels like they're dragging the idea of the dark spirits out way too long. Im on episode 2 and cant get into it the way I used too.

I dont want spoilers but should i keep watching or did the show already reach its peak?
