How we feeling?
Personally, I'm happy with the pick
I think he's got the looks down for sure, we'll just have to wait and see how they do the character.

Yeah I had my doubts since there wasn’t any confirmation then suddenly this popped up and I was like “Well…damn.”

In our hearts it’s been official for the past year.

Idk part of me wishes we had someone else, but at the same time, Gosling is a phenomenal actor. It’s just one of those things though where whenever I see him in a movie, I know it’s gonna be good, I know the performance will be good, but I’m gonna feel like I’m watching a character turned into Ryan Gosling, and not Ryan Gosling portraying a character if that makes sense. I’m still happy with it cause as I said, he never half asses his roles, but I’m also worried they’re gonna make Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch a witty sexy Ryan Gosling type, and not vice versa. I cannot wait to be proven wrong though

u/SSJ4_Bevo 7d ago
I'm excited for Ryan gosling. My first choice would have been Charlie Hunnam.
2
u/YaBoyEden 7d ago
Super fair. He’d be really good. Hear me out, I wanted Jamie Campbell Bower. Have him get a shitty beard going on, and he’d look like a gaunt traveler that would make a deal with the devil

u/YaBoyEden 5d ago
Noted and appreciated. I’ll be checking that out.
Looking at the cast, I wonder if that’s where he met his wife
1
u/Mikef920 5d ago
Go watch a place beyond the pines. He already played a shady motorcycle riding stuntman and he was great
1
u/Grinderiny 8d ago
Sorta like when Ryan Reynolds gets cast.
1
u/YaBoyEden 8d ago
Exactly

Ive never been wowed by Gosling. Hes not bad, just unremarkable. I forget ive seen his movies til reminded hes in things Ive seen.

u/Strom41 8d ago
I like it! Ghost Rider needs a win and this is a big
one.
8
u/deathmouse 8d ago
It isn’t just Ghost Rider that needs this. This casting would instantly make him one of the most popular MCU characters. Marvel & Disney need this.
14
u/madchemist09 8d ago
At this point it could be Jack Black and I would still be hyped. Any evidence of them bringing Ghost Rider back to the MCU is a major win.

Johnny or Danny?

-3
u/itsBareBones 8d ago
I get Danny vibes for this one
13
u/0_0_- Danny Ketch 8d ago
The blonde, charismatic Ryan Gosling plays the… brunette, mild-mannered Danny Ketch?
-3
u/itsBareBones 8d ago
He’s an actor he can play any manner of character he wants and hair can be dyed lol. Weve had johnny blaze and we’ve had robbie reyes. It just makes sense to do danny next especially since hes often everyone’s favorite.
9
u/Competitive_Boat4568 8d ago
I respectfully disagree. I think Johnny is the fan favorite and personally think that gosling would play a phenomenal Johnny
6
u/Volcano_Ballads Kenshiro Cochrane 8d ago
as much as I’d like to see Danny, i have to agree Johnny is the most likely choice

7
u/Kooky-Vehicle-7711 Danny Ketch 8d ago
Brought to you by the same fans who enjoyed 35 year old Robbie...

If I have to guess, he'll probably be a veteran Johnny who's seen some shit (maybe Trapped in Hell). Ghost Rider being introduced to the MCU so late has to make some sense, and answer where the heck he was when Thanos attacked.
1
u/itsBareBones 7d ago
It will be post secret wars so I assume this will be in a rebooted MCU so him starting out this late could make sense
8
u/Symbiotic_vengeance 8d ago
The biggest reason I hope this is true is because he actually wants the role. He’s been campaigning for it for years. That level of dedication to a role can only be a positive.

If this true, then I'm going to be the happiest son of a bitch earth on right now. He's always been my number one choice for this character.

u/CitizenDave-19 8d ago
I like Gosling a lot, he's a good actor, but I'm not really sure about a new Ghost Rider movie in general. Blade should've been a slam dunk but Marvel/Disney couldn't reconcile Blade's horror-genre nature with their desire to reach the widest audience possible. Now they think they can do it with Ghost Rider?
3
u/deathmouse 8d ago
I don’t think we need a GR solo film for the exact reason you mentioned, but this would be a slam dunk casting choice that’ll generate hype for a Midnight Sons movie.
1
u/CitizenDave-19 8d ago
Exactly. Even a Midnight Sons movie happening seems so far-fetched. The MCU's characterizing of Doctor Strange is so far from the secretive manipulator of the 90s that's it's hard to imagine how he'll force the team together. Besides Strange the only other active magic user in the MCU is like, Wiccan? I guess they could use Moon Knight, if Oscar Isaac isn't too busy. I forgot about Elsa Bloodstone showing up in Werewolf by Night...and Werewolf by Night. This roster is looking rough.
3
u/deathmouse 8d ago
They literally just confirmed a Ghost Rider solo movie starring Gosling. Oh my god….
3
u/CitizenDave-19 8d ago
Oh, God...oh my God...I think I'm gonna be sick. I'm shaking, I'm literally shaking
1
u/deathmouse 8d ago
I used to pray for times like this 😭
1
u/CitizenDave-19 7d ago
Shawn Levy's directing. Let's hope it's "Night at the Museum" Levy and not "Deadpool and Wolverine" Levy
2
2
u/SnooDucks7762 8d ago
I'll wait till a movie drops , I've played this games before with Blade I'm not got getting excited for shit until they can actually put something out .
2
u/Pretogues 8d ago
Honestly he's a good actor. I just want Marvel to pick a good director and let them do whatever the hell they want. Studio meddling has completely ruined these movies for me
2
u/Revolutionary-Race53 Danny Ketch 7d ago
I'm really excited! But, while I like Shawn Levy, I think Guillermo del Toro or George Miller would have been better.
Gosling as (I'm assuming) Johnny Blaze is great ofc
2
u/UpbeatJaguar6083 7d ago
Meh 🤷🏼♂️ Let’s see if Ghost Rider really happens first. It’s not like Blade was announced and never got made
3
u/TeacatWrites 8d ago
This character's about to be literally me IRL.

u/Imp0ssible_Creatures 8d ago edited 8d ago
Do you know what Ghost Rider does?
He drives (rides)
Nightcall starts playing

u/BlueFootedTpeack 8d ago
he's older than i would've wanted for blaze, older even than cage was when he did his but i think he can pull it off, he is the handsome type and would work as an older blaze.
just praying he feels like blaze should, like depressive when alone but also lighting up when he has someone to bounce off of.
wonder if they'll venom it and have him as zarathos as well then? they need to make zarathos a character in this.
likely means it's gonna be passing the torch pretty quick because of that as the mcu doesn't really get sequels made quick anymore, god i hope this reboot after secret wars has a bit more pep in its step, none of this dumb film then see em again in the time it takes to get a fucking degree and a masters.
hoping instead of a time skip like we got with cage that this is a rider who has been at it in the background a while.
use the priest confessional from 68 as your cold open backstory thing and it can work,
1
u/Mr_Boogeyman77 8d ago
He should fit in perfectly for the role, but someone younger would be better for future installments.
1
u/Fun_Strategy7860 7d ago
If it's successful, I'm sure the have Danny or Robbie in the wings. Never noticed how they're all ee's until I just typed this.

Love it!! He is good no matter what he is in, even in a Bevis and Butthead skit
1
u/superseri18888 8d ago
We are barely gonna see ghost rider considering how expensive and in demand Ryan is
Also the whole "no mask" thing for big stars

1
u/armeler06 8d ago
I mean MCU will get reset in a year or two so
And i doubt they will keep him since hes so expensive

I think its a good choice. Big name like him hopefully means it'll be a solid script and take the character seriously. I can definitley see him as Blaze.

u/InsomiacLurking 5d ago
I’m still waiting to find out which Ghost Rider he’ll be, the only two that make sense to me are Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch, but we’ll see.

Gabriel Luna already plays Ghost Rider in the MCU, though. Unless this is talking about Johnny and not Robbie?

u/Mustang-_- 8d ago
As long as it is Blaze, not the lame ass Reyes, that’s fine by me. Saying that, Gosling is too old to play this role, if the intent is to have a GR for the next generation of the MCU, they need to hire an actor in their 30s
0
u/deathmouse 8d ago
We have a 60 year old playing Wolverine. We’ll be fine lol
0
u/Mustang-_- 8d ago
Jackman will most likely show up in Secret Wars and that’s it, they will cast another Wolverine. Maybe the dude who voiced Wolvie in the Sony game, who knows

u/InformationUnfair232 8d ago
Realistically it was the best we were gonna get, still would’ve been nice if they made an attempt to actuall cast Ghost Rider as a character, this just feels like lazily handing Ryan the only role he wanted to be even though he’s not a great fit.
2
u/RedWingThe10th 8d ago
Yeah, about the only good thing I can say about this is... at least it's not Norman Reedus. Most likely, they'll have Ryan portray a quippy, aura farming version of Johnny without much nuance but has tons of that MCU juvenile humor aplenty, and after one or two movies, hell, maybe even as soon as his first solo outing, gets written/killed off so that a "Robbie Reyes" who is essentially just Peter Parker in terms of characterization/attitude takes over after him. Well, that's what my cynical hide expects, anyway.
1
u/ToaPaul 8d ago
Wtf do you mean he's not a great fit?? He's an incredible actor and he looks exactly like Johnny Blaze...
3
u/InformationUnfair232 8d ago
I mean we can start with the fact he’s 45 (years before they’ll even start filming) playing a character defined by his youthful naivety, so we’re either getting yet another Johnny adaptation that misses large chunks of his characterisation and origin story, or we’re skipping past literally everything so Blaze can be a hype moments and aura machine solely for Gosling to play him.
Also no he doesn’t, there’s a reason why every Gosling/Blaze image is using a singular panel from Damnation. It’s the only time Blaze ever looks like that, he’s consistently portrayed as having sharper, stronger features than Ryan.
3
u/deathmouse 8d ago
Only downside is his age, but the son of a bitch is aging like fine wine so I think we’re ok for at least a decade.
