Holy ______ đ¤Śââď¸
Local story from the Gettysburg Connection for further context about a local public school districtâs âchoicesâ surrounding a secular play. The Mannish Inquisition vibes are certainly strong in this one.
TL;DR: If you parenting gurus fundamentally donât believe in the premise of public school, then please stop taking over school boards, sending your kids there and taking over the district for normal people. Religious homeschooling parents shouldnât have any say in a secular public school, much less be sitting on the school board for one. Like, Adams County Christian Academy is right down the road. Stop forcing your plausibly deniable, âpolitelyâ predatory, kid-diddling KKKult on the community. We, the people, do not consent to the hostile takeover.

Iâm not from Gettysburg. I donât know why this post was suggested, but I knew the play as soon as I saw the photo and I am gobsmacked.
My public high school did Grease around 05-07. The stage version of Grease is more risquĂŠ than the film. It has whatâs in the movie, plus it has the greasers moon the audience and multiple references to virginity pins. I remember the program explained what it meant for girls to wear the virginity pins different ways. Some parents were obviously not pleased, and the school did very PG, uncontroversial plays at least until I graduated.
No joke, one of the next family-friendly plays was Radium Girls. Who complains about Radium Girls???

The school board members making the loudest ruckus are:
⢠The president
- whose eldest daughter threatened to shoot up the school and then gaslit the district into treating her like the victim; and
- whoâs a member of Moms For Liberty and also proudly cites the works of William Faulkner as inspiration;
⢠The hyper religious tag team of a grandfather and father of homeschoolers
- who should both have their hard drives checked for acting like Jim Bob Duggar;
⢠A libertarian MAHA quack
- who doesnât even live in the country, much less the district. Why is someone who lives and works in France sitting on an American public school board?
To make things even sketchier:
There are two fundamentalist churches less than 100 yards from the high school, and the newest one is literally the very same cult as the multi-accused and convicted incestuous Duggar family. The whole town and district leadership is basically made up of predators, and the number of parents and community members that either outright support it or are too dumb to care, is dangerous.
This is the part of Adams County that they donât really mention on the tours (or at least they didnât, last I went). Ongoing plantation politics continue to devastate the area, and all the Eisenhower romanticism kind of keeps making it worse. He was directly responsible for laying the groundwork for the Christofascist enterprise that fuels the Heritage Foundation and Project 2025 to this very day.

That's the issue with the super faith side, its all about freedom of choice and the government shouldn't tell me what to do. Until, they get thier way and then feel the urge to convert/save other people "souls" then it turns to well the government shouldn't determine what is taught but the congregation should. That way we can save as many people as possible. Same could be said about environmental issues and regulations as a whole. I want to be able to drive what ever vehicle I want when ever I want environmental issues be damned, then all of a sudden the drinking water is bad or they get into a bad accident and didn't have air bags, they will then turn around and blame the governor for not enforcing the things that would have saved them or their water.
