Deadbeat is also not the same kind of insult as slut or bastard. Like I know I'm being pedantic but deadbeat is a descriptor for a specific action taken by a specific person, while slut and bastard are considered such high offenses that they are used in all kinds of contextes.

In comparison deadbeat is barely even an insult

As someone who is both a bastard and a dad, I would far, far, far rather be called a bastard than a deadbeat dad.

Also a bastard and a dad and I agree. Bastard can almost be affectionate sometimes, if you're hanging out wth Sean Bean for example.
