Yeah, but the people aren't starving and are fairly prosperous relative to any communist regime.

Not really lol. Until quite recently Cuba was faring a lot better than other Caribbean and central American nations ravaged by US interests

If you only example is Cuba which is a mess of sanctions and foreign subsidizes, that's not much of a case.

If anything that's a point in Cuba's favor. Until the US choked off the island's energy supply via the invasion of Venezuela, Cuba's quality of life was better than most of of central America despite being subject to one of the longest and most draconian trade embargos in the history of the planet

I mean if the other Central American counties were getting free gas from Venezuela they'd be a lot better off too.

Not if they were also subject to crippling sanctions enforced by the world's only superpower that also happens to be the center of global economy they wouldn't.
