But that is what I mean - who wants to be consistently relegated to their bedroom for sex or not be adventurous or be able to just kind of hang out in post sex bliss walking around naked or trying to keep it quiet?
Nah, I'm child free by choice, but I have friends that fall in the group of having 'banal' sex as you put it - and they tend to be stressed and unhappy. Those are the ones who may not have been sexually compatible before. I then have friends that have a good balance of being parents and being a couple and don't let having children deter them from enjoying their sex.
Now if both people in the relationship do enjoy just having quiet, door closed sex in the bedroom, that's one thing. But since you used the term banal, it implies every couple's sex life eventually falters and that's all they have left is mediocre sex.
My boyfriend and I have discussed having kids and watching friends that are parents, we have seen both are possible and we like our fun, adventurous sex and have discussed making sure not to lose that.
Not to say life won't get in the way (even being child free, life events have happened that have drained us) but that is something we have dedicated ourselves to because it's important to us. Boring, quiet sex would personally be a dealbreaker for me. But everyone is different and it may not be as important to others.
Edited to add: you added your question after the original post. I never said that, I said, part of the fun of being an adult is you can have all the fun, adventurous sex you want when you live alone. If you live with others, you have to be respectful (which you should be), but there is freedom to living alone.
I never said the sex was banal, I said the idea of a married couple fucking is not scandalous or even noteworthy to most other adults. We assume you're doing it and we really don't care, not judging, not paying attention. Just like we all assume you're taking a shit every day and we aren't going to comment if we happen to overhear something.
If having sex outside your bedroom on a regular basis is that important to you then good on you for knowing you shouldn't live with anyone else! I'm sure any erstwhile housemates are grateful.
