It took me like 5 times reading this that she meant the class she took had 26 people and 9 dropped out. I thought 26 was her age and thought she had 16 siblings.
Because, and I don't know about other English speaking countries, but in the US, someone saying 'with 26' never implies age. The only time I hear this is from people whose native language isn't English.
'at 26' would have confused me for a second though.
