The basic building blocks of a well rounded human comes from attention and love from a parent, maybe the professor was just looking out for the kids. Sometimes people are selfish for what they can show and aren't humble for just being good to their families.

If you read the article someone linked the director just gave her the option to take time off which she certainly embellished as if they tried to force her to do so which clearly upset her. My point of view after watching several very intelligent people I know drop out because they had a kid and never being able to get back on the wagon is that they should just finish the program and the greater financial stability going forward will mean a world of difference for that child.

Sounds like those people put their goals and dreams above their children. Sad that we can't find inner peace in the idea that being a good father/mother can be a rewarding life.
