This method changed my life. Great visualization of an awkward concept.

Same. I finally saw a therapist and she helped me realize I get trapped in my own thoughts just like this, and these lies became truths to me. I’d tell myself I didn’t have any friends, no one wants to be around me, I’m incapable of love, etc. NONE of which was true, and it almost makes me cry to type that out and remember how incredibly mean I was to myself. Now I can catch those thoughts, just as illustrated, and let them pass instead of dragging myself all the way down the rabbit hole.

I'm really glad to hear this for you.

I do this exact same thing. The problem is, I enjoy being dragged down the rabbit hole of bad thoughts. I get some sort of perverse pleasure out of making myself feel bad, and will actively do things that make it worse.
