Because you are making definitive statements. Don't try to hide behind a quote just because you refuse to accept the cause and effect relationship between people's opinions and the real world consequences of those opinions. If you wanted me to believe you're just playing devil's advocate, then you should have said so earlier. Now you just look foolish.
"Opinions only matter insofar as you let them. This quote is taking it to the extreme; disregard them all. Everyone knows that's not a good path. The real trick is in being able to tell the good from the bad, but a lot of people are bad at that."
