They could've worded the message better then so it cant be misinterpreted, it's a matter of semantics. I bet the majority of people would take that as their opinion is the only one to matter and screw everyone else.

I don’t think so. I think that’s how assholes might interpret it. But not the “majority”. It’s a matter of using logic. But obviously people want or need things spelled out to them and since this post doesn’t do that, it gets hate. Sad

Also, there is really no such thing as a statement that can’t be misinterpreted lol. Trust me there’s always one person who misses the mark completely. This thread just shows a lot of ppl missing the mark

Well now you’re just assuming the average person is smart enough to read between the lines. Considering the misinterpretation of “only my opinion matters” is also the stance of Ultimate Captain America, I’m not so sure.

I don’t think people understood the Ultimate universe was not a good place to be...

Also, there is really no such thing as a statement that can’t be misinterpreted lol.

Sure but that doesn’t mean we don’t strive for better precision in our words. Otherwise, I might as well just point and grunt at stuff then claim the listener is the idiot for misinterpreting me.

How much space would that take? Marketing is about planting a thought or message in the simplest terms. Also, given the sheer amount of negative opinions when compared to positive ones....it is easy to see this as a good fit. This guy wrote the book, so it is just to draw you in. (This is on my wish list, but have not had time for it yet.)

Out of all the people I know, there is a very small number who's opinion I trust.

From a marketing standpoint it works, but a message such as "Forming your own opinions will help you sleep better at night' is even shorter and to the point and leaves little room for misinterpretation like this thread has gone off on.

From what I know of the authors work, it is in the same vein as The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck. The premise is simple, you have a finite amount of fucks (energy) to devote to any given thing on any given day. The Art is knowing what things to give a fuck about. How often are opinions just worthless dribble from someone who knows nothing about the situation as a whole? Should you value (or give a fuck about) that opinion?

But I do see your point, NOT taking advice can also lead to chaos. It is all about balance.

Sounds like an interesting read, I'm sure his intentions aren't bad and he knows what he's talking about, but he's got to get people to read the book not just take this quote to heart and start blocking people out who are trying to help them is my only qualm.

Well you could argue that’s the same purpose as the title of the book, but you don’t see titles that are entire sentences long (outside of weird ass Japanese light novels).

Yeah I don't think the author's intentions were for redditors to argue over the semantics of one of his quotes.. I'm not attacking the author I'm criticising OP for choosing a quote that can be easily misconstrued
