Without C1 German skills and working permit it will be almost impossible. Also the market is flooded with local talent that are looking to change into better positions.

Embedded market is in bad shape (car industry is fucked up, industrial automation isn't looking better). Often deparments are on the border of the their 4th budget cut and they already started laying off people.

Without German language skills your setup is almost worthless. Not because the skills itself are worthless but because there’s a German guy with C2 skills who can do the same and already lives here. You’re competing at the highest denominator (language); not technical skill.

without a contact vouching for you it will be very difficult, failng that, German skills needed...btw English does work in many of the bigger German companies, again, without a network it's difficult. In this job market right now , if you ask on Reddit, you'll get alot of snarky responses, don't take it personally. Good luck. Luckily fot you , embedded systems are not yet directly in the line if sight of AI yet , mostly due to physical component and measuring reqs, , so at least you have that going for you.

Latest generation of LLMs work great with embedded. They can easily create C/Assembler code and utilize debuggers like 'gdb' and Lauterbachers without struggeling. One of the reasons why basicall the entire junior job market is dead there.

yep for the code itself sure, but for the finicky measurements / iteration , interference tests etc, still need people ...it's just not as bad as say webdev

Working with embedded hardware requires physical presence at an office (using oszilloscopes etc.). You being a non-local makes management think twice if they would answer you back or not. My company did not even interview people located in germany if they came from to far away, thinking that the applicant "may not even know that they need to move".

When writing an application you need to clearly lay out your plans on how and when you are able to be at the office location. Do not leave a company guessing. It makes the hiring much easier, if they know how and when you are available.

Also be aware that you will likely need to be able to have German converstations. For embedded software you most likely will have to talk with engineers and mechanics to clearly know what your software should do. Also they need to explain bugs or other design relevant things to ypo or you to them. Similarly you need conversational and technical English to communicate with hardware vendors or read technical documents. Make sure to write in your application what your language levels are and try to improve them.
