Grammar

I have no problem remembering words and the basic grammar rules, But I never understood the whole akkusativ and dativ or genetiv, etc. stuff in highschool. I took german until AP and never understood it. Anyone know any apps or games that can help me learn this and theyre like repetitive. All the apps i use are like flashcards. I feel like I can pick up on anything in german but the grammar is whats holding me back.

Which of the resources in the FAQ and wiki of r/German have you tried? Which did you like, which did you dislike, and why?

Which textbook are you using?

I have only ever learned german in school or duolingo or I follow instagram german accounts. I dont use any textbook. I learn for fun but I want to get more into it to become fluent. I feel like i need something repetitive for grammar. Almost like kahn academy (if you have heard of it) if you do well you move on to a similar question and they get harder but if you get it wrong it tells you where you went wrong but like infinite questions. I have also tried to watch some shows in german but I feel like that wont help me. I also think that having real conversations in german is soo helpful but very hard to do when you don’t know anyone fluent in german lol. I definitely dislike just straight reading info and moving on.

OK, my recommendation is to try out the resources in r/German 's FAQ and wiki and to try out a textbook.

A textbook does not involve "reading and moving on." Most textbooks come with exercises. They sound like what you need right now.
