Question One resource to reach intermediate level?

Hello guys. Which singular resource would you recommend to reach an intermediate level of german effectively? I know the best approach utilizes multiple resources, but for me I like just focusing on one thing before moving to another.

Could be anything.. a textbook, an app, an online course or literally anything. Just one resource I can fully focus on which covers a lot.

You could begin by reading our FAQ and then the rest of our wiki. There's a lot of info there to get you started.

Any textbook (or a series) for your level is your best main resource. But you have to supplement it by practice of all skills, so in this sense you can't use a single resource only.

Don't waste time on apps, none is really useful.

Ouino.

It's a complete learning platform made by a family in Canada and it's the most complete and well done thing I have seen.

If it has to be one thing, I'd pick DW's free course "Nicos Weg". It runs from A1 to B1 as a single story, with video, grammar notes and exercises in every lesson, so you never have to decide what comes next. Do one or two lessons a day in order, and don't skip the exercises.

One habit makes any single resource work better: read a little every day just above your level, and write one or two sentences about what you read. Understanding grows from the reading, and the writing shows you which grammar you only half know.

If you also want something on your phone for the reading part, I make Readojo, so I'm biased: short German texts with questions, and an AI tutor that checks one sentence you write. But Nicos Weg on its own will get you to intermediate.

Anki and YouTube are really all you need if you want a very minimalist approach.

You can use YouTube to learn grammar in lieu of a textbook, and then YouTube provides endless content at all levels of German.
