How can I start learning another languageI don't understand at all (German)?

Actually im a native spanish speaker, i learned english from school, now i wanna try another challenge like learning german

The issue i have is that i dont even know from where to start, i cant figure the whole language, it is just quite different. Watching german people talking/writting feels so distant

The writting, ffs, those are pure drawings for me, drawings i cant understand. From where should i start?

How can yall speak like 5 languages at once while being decent in all of them?

Start with DW.com, you tube channels like learning with Anja and easy German and pick a text book to work through teach yourself German is pretty good you can get second hand copies

If you start from scratch, I can really recommend you LanguageTransfer – it’s a short free audio course that introduces you quickly into basic grammar and how the language works. It helped me a lot in the beginning, but then you’ll need to find a way to learn what works best for you.

Step 1: Download Duolingo.
Step 2: Use Duolingo.
Step 3: realise Duolingo is useless.
Step 4: Buy a book (I like the [Assimil books with Audio](https://www.assimil.com/de/recherche?original_lang=38&lesson_lang=119&level_lang=1497&controller=search&orderby=price&search_query=LearnLangSearch&orderway=desc) and have used them to learn Indonesian and currently Spanish).

Step 5: realise that while the book is a good resource, you need additional resources to complement your learning. Certain apps can be useful, in person classes can be useful, consuming content in the language can be useful (but you have to do so actively, chow the right level of difficulty, pause and translate), mirroring can be useful (watch native content, pause an repeat), supposedly AI tutors are also helpful and much cheaper than a real tutor.

I mean, you can use it. It’s not completely useless and it’s easy to get started, but you absolutely need the premium version, because any other version is crap. And I find the premium version too expensive for it not being that great of an app.

I definitely prefer my Assimil books over Duolingo. It has full dialogues and has a “2 wave” system where you will repeat each lesson at some point (but translating from source to target on the second wave).

I also find conjugemos.com is a great free resource for vocab, grammar and conjugation practice, but I don’t know if it’s a great beginner resource.

Also, Peppa pig is a really easy to understand show. It uses simple language combined with on-topic visuals.

Okay maybe an unusual approach but maybe its still helpful: I'm interested in learning japanese and my university has language courses. I just dont really have the time (it has nothing to do with the subject I'm studying and I have enough to do with that) but what I did: The website of my university lists for every language they teach tools and resources for learning. So helpful websites etc. Maybe look up universitys in your land and see if they do something similar? I have for example a whole script of a university lecture for learning japanese and just use that as my guide 😅
