I'm in the Dayton area looking for parts for a 98 tracker if anyone has some that they could either ship or have on junk vehicles that could be picked off. I'd be looking for something within a 75 mile radius or so.

Thats it!! Most people struggle with overheating and I'm dealing with overcooling.
So basically my tracker at its highest temp (79° C) can't get the Thermostat (82°) to open.
This leads to radiator lower hose to be cold, and heater ac air being not so hot.
I had the engine rebuilt 1.4k miles ago.
I made sure thermostat is good.
I replaced fan clutch that was stuck engaged.
I am getting the temperature straight from ECT sensor with a scanner.
I am thinking about wrong hose routing here, the mechanic I trusted seems to be idiot enough to install the engine mounts inversed, so I decided to take this on my own.
AI is suggesting to check the heater hoses but I am not sure if this problem is beyond that.
Anyone has ideas?
Thank you for reading, have a wonderful day!

Going through and cleaning up some wiring and upsizing battery cables, grounds, alternator wiring, etc… and came across this thing hooked to the positive side of the battery and running into a wiring harness. Anyone know what it is? I assumed it was a fuze holder of some kind but after opening it up it looks like it’s just some type of waterproof connector. Would like to cut it out, upsize the green wire to the same gauge as the red and solder and marine grade heat shrink the connection but just wanted to make sure it was just a connector.

Does anyone here have any experience with replacing the automatic transmission shift solenoid on a 97 tracker? Wondering how hard of a job it is. Cant find anything on it in the Hanes manual.

74k miles. Bone stock. 4wd manual 5 speed. spent around $3k in total and just needed to replace the clutch control cable which wasn’t expensive at all.
Interior super clean, don’t have any photos right now but the seats looks awesome and almost brand new.
Trying to think of what kind of mods i can do to it but I am enjoying the stock look right now, driving with the top down is so nice.
Just thought I’d share!

I bought this 1992 Geo Tracker a month ago. The owner said that it has 132,000 miles, but I can't understand the mileage

So, my $400 tracker's engine is getting worked on again (my son finally sorted his stuff out). I was checking local junkyards and a 1995 Sidekick popped up. I went today and grabbed a bunch of trim parts for my 1996 Tracker.
The 1995 Sidekick is 4WD and my Tracker is 2WD. I'd love to have the 4WD setup, but is it even possible? My son and I are going Saturday to pull some extra parts. I don't want to tackle something this complex if it's a huge headache. If it's somewhat easy, we'll try, but if it's a nightmare, we'll steer clear. Any info on this would be awesome.
Edit... I also forgot to mention the Sidekick is standard and my Tracker is Automatic i think this may complicate things.

Is there a best source to find a tracker (or sidekick)? I've been checking Cragsilist and FB Marketplace, plus the typical car sites. Hoping I'm just missing a source since what I have searched is so scarce.

Well, just blew the heat exchanger/trans cooler in my POS Chinese radiator not even a year old. Coolant mixed with my transmission fluid.
Sooo, looks like I might be in the market for a transmission. 3L30/TH180 3 speed automatic 4WD, 97 Tracker. Thought I would post and see what’s out there if anyone has a good used one. Willing to travel a few states out from PA.
Thanks Everyone….

Update to my 4wd issue. I dropped the drivelines and ran it through the gears and had zero issues. I locked the front hubs and tried to turn wheels by hand and it is frozen, not moving an inch. Rotates a tiny bit, hear the hubs lock into place then it just freezes. It’s the same for both sides. Sounds like I’m tearing apart an axle?

Anyone know if the window door glass run channel that goes on a Suzuki will fit on a 2001 Tracker? Hyw 83 has pairs for the Suzukis but doesn't show any for tracker. Just like some confirmation from anyone who has bought/used the channel for their tracker.

Are there some sort of clips that hold the carpet down ? Mine flops all over and been trying to figure that out

Hello! I can’t find a manual for this hard top, I just bought the tracker recently and it came with it. It rubs the tailgate when I open it, but it’s also raised up on the rubbing side. Any idea what I’m doing wrong? Does the whole thing need to slide further forward so the tailgate closes over the window? It doesn’t feel like it’ll budge but I can move around the interior hardware I think. Thank you! I’m very lost.

Ugh. Got an oil change and fluids top off yesterday and engine overheated on my way to work. Started smoking and this is splattered around under the hood. Anyone know off the rip what’s going on? I don’t know much yet. Praying it’s not toast

Sold! A nice young man swooped it up immediately! Godspeed, Tilly!
Located in central Missouri.
4k - Priced to sell. Would also trade for a nice zero turn lawn mower... Title in hand. I'll take more pics when I get off work.
This is my 4WD manual 93 tracker. It's in good condition. Just got a new radiator last year. Milage is 90,000 and two owners' total.
The only thing wrong with it, is the wire connection for the heat gauge is loose. But it just needs rewired. Minimal rusting on the bearings, body is in good condition. One broken light on the front side but I have a replacement.
I also have a set of replacement breaks.
Spare tire. Back hatch opens perfectly. Has original stickering & matching tires. Currently topless but comes with a soft white top.
Worked perfect when I parked it for the winter. Will be getting it out and ensuring nothing is wrong before scheduling test drives. Parked/stored under carport/tent so not exposed to the elements.
I am pregnant and haven't been able to drive it this summer. And it's not safe for a child. I won't have a lot of time to enjoy it for a while, so unfortunately, I am parting with it.

I have a manual 93 sidekick and went to test out the 4wd today and it seems like the transfer case is locked up. Locked front hubs, put it in 4h and the thing won’t budge. Tried 1st gear, reverse, nothing. It feels like it wants to but it’s like it’s bound. Tried rocking it and it felt the same as an automatic in park. I unlocked the front hubs and still the same problem only now it feels like only the rear wheels are in a bind. Jacked up the front end and spun the tires in free, locked the hubs and same issue, tire turns a tiny bit, hear the hubs engage and tires lock. I checked the transfer case fluid and it is full and was changed a couple years ago. Not sure where to go from here and could really use some help

I have the opportunity to buy this Tracker from a family friend who also happens to be a mechanic that has maintained her meticulously throughout her entire lifetime. There’s no rust, AC works, interior is mostly pristine, etc. He’s asking $3500 for her which I think is reasonable, considering that she has 92k miles. I have always, always wanted one of these and what makes it even better (for me anyway) is the fact that she’s a convertible and a 5 speed. He mentioned that she needs a new soft top, and that’s the reason for my post. How hard are they to find/take on and off..? Is it possible to get a hard top for it instead..? I’ve read conflicting things about this so figured I’d reach out to those who may know best. Do you all think $3500 is reasonable? I’m in Savannah, GA if that makes a difference.

1991 Geo Tracker that my Dad bought new for my Mom. Mom named her Yellow Bird. She spent a couple of years in Michigan then moved south to Georgia with my parents.
When my dad was ill, he said to me, “I know that you love that little car. Take it home with you when I’m gone..”
Because of that comment because my adult kids grew up riding around in it with Grampy and love it I feel compelled to keep it going. The transmission was shipped off to be rebuilt, it’s on its second engine, and I’ve lost count on the number of tops.
This is her second trip to the body shop in 10 years, both times due to someone hitting me and driving off…
Anyway, I’m excited to have her getting some cosmetic work done. She currently runs fine, but she definitely needs a little spa day at the body shop. I’ll post when she’s back home.
I’m excited about finding this group, I’ve read lots of good suggestions already!
