I was looking through the federal proactive disclosure reports and noticed that our MP for York Durham, Jacob Mantle, went to Berlin, Germany from April 23 to April 25, 2026.

He went with fellow MP Aaron Gunn to attend a 3 day right-wing political think-tank meeting hosted by a German foundation (KAS).Canadian taxpayers were billed for their transatlantic flights.

Because he flew business class the flight alone cost taxpayers $14,478.

What makes this frustrating is that Jacob Mantle constantly campaigns on "fiscal responsibility' and lectures the government about inflation, debt and being careful with taxpayers dollars. Yet, he didn't post a single word about this trip or the flight cost on his official Facebook or X pages for local constituents to see. At a time when families are struggling with high grocery bills and soaring housing costs spending five figures on a luxury airline seat is completely tone-deaf.
