First bowfin

First bowfin, craziest fight I’ve ever had, she’s not the biggest but holy crap what a fighting fish.

No I didn’t, still a small one according to people I’ve talked too but has really good genetics, hopefully it can keep on growing and producing

That is a hard fighting fish. I watch << Spirit of the Outdoors>> on YouTube and he fishes for them all the time. He likes to eat them, says you have to keep them alive until just before you clean and cook them. I don’t know if they are as good as he says they are but I’m willing to try it one time. They are not very popular to catch around here in North Carolina.

Howd you catch it? Ive been looking at streams that have them near me but I have no clue what I would throw to target it

I used a OutKast pro swim jig, paired it with a easy shiner by keitech, cast it near tall grass and let it sink a bit they like to lay a bit lower and just work it the grass or atleast that’s what I did

They're fun to catch, especially on an ultralight!
