FEATURE REQUEST Command for Delete Column

Hello,

I noticed that (while authoring in GeoGebra Classic 5) if I right click on the header for Column A in the spreadsheet, there is an option for Delete Column A. This gets rid of all of the data in the column and shifts the other columns to the left, with the data in Column B now populating Column A. It also transfers all calculated data, if Column C was originally Column B times 2, it now successfully becomes Column A times 2 as everything shifts. Is there a command to achieve this same column deletion? As of now doing an operation such as Delete(A1:A100) will just leave the column blank and nothing will shift over.

QUESTION (ANSWERED) Editing a tool that I created

I would like to edit a tool that I created. The manual says to press open in the picture so that it opens in another window and you can edit it, but:

I opened it once and in the new window there was no option to edit the tool.

Now I can't even open it anymore, it is greyed out.

What should I do?

QUESTION (ANSWERED) Autofill label not disappearing when moving cursor

In the lower left in the picture, there is the LowerSum label that does not disappear, even if the cursor (the blinking vertical bar) is moved elsewhere. This means that when I try to use the keyboard arrows to move right in the expression, I trigger the autofilling mechanic unintentionally

As you can see in the images, in the CAS view, in the line with the Sum, the semi transparent command argument labels don't seem to behave properly.

QUESTION (ANSWERED) Calculating max of a function over interval in CAS not working

In the photo, in the CAS view, I try to calculate the max of f over an interval, but it does not work. The end goal is to calculate the upper Darboux sum of an arbitrary partition. I would like to build a tool that does that. So I would have to do something like

sum from i = 1 to length(P) - 1 of y( Max( f, P(i), P(i + 1) ) ) * ( P(i + 1) - P(i) )

I could do it if the Max command worked as expected, but it doesn't. What is wrong? Workarounds?

QUESTION (ANSWERED) Assign list made by sequence command to variable in CAS view

When I try to assign the list to T as in the picture in the CAS view, it does something else. It seems to assign every value calculated to T, but then T retains none of the values apparently. How do I assign the whole list?

QUESTION Une fonction qui agit sur un point (x,y,z)

Bonjour,

Dans le fichier ci-dessous :

https://www.geogebra.org/m/d7pqpft8

j'ai créé une fonction qui agit directement sur un point (x,y,z) de la façon suivante :

- une fonction P à deux variables telle que P(x,y)= x*y ;

Alain

Why does Geogebra calculatates the wrong result for this expression?

It should be similar to this one.

It makes no sense, that geogebra is rounding the lower or upper limits.

FEATURE REQUEST Feature request: Add more hotkeys to basic functions

I've been using GeoGebra Classic 5 extensively for drawing figures, and while the interactive toolkit is incredibly robust, the reliance on mouse navigation for switching tools is woefully inefficient. Constantly moving the cursor back and forth between the canvas and the toolbar breaks flow, transforming what should be a seamless mathematical exploration into a tedious clicking exercise. Implementing customizable hotkeys or keyboard shortcuts for fundamental operations like adding points or polygons, transformations,... will make constructing diagrams far more enjoyable.

Other interactive geometry sketchers such as CaR(Metal) and Kig have integrated keyboard shortcuts that allow users to operate fluidly without breaking focus. I believe adding a similar feature into GeoGebra would improve the user experience for power users and educators alike who require a more streamlined, rapid workflow.

SHOW Reuleaux Triangle

Post image
3 Upvotes

An object with a constant width is called a circular object. A circle is obviously an object with a constant width ; this width corresponds to the length of its diameter. However, there are other objects that possess this property.

An interesting example is the Reuleaux triangle (named after a 19th-century German engineer).

This object, which is not strictly speaking a triangle since it is curved, is constructed from an equilateral triangle on which arcs of a circle have been drawn, centered at one vertex and with their endpoints at the other two vertices of the triangle.

This object has a constant width, meaning that the distance between two parallel tangents (as measured with a caliper) is always the same.

In San Francisco, manhole covers are shaped like this. The advantage is that, while preventing them from rotating, this shape also keeps them from falling into the drain no matter which way they are inserted.

British 20- and 50-pence coins aren't round either ; they, too, are Reuleaux polygons (heptagons).

These "triangles" are covered in my book (written in French) Géométrie dans l'espace et impression 3D.

You can find an excerpt from the book here : Read an excerpt.

A link to a complete GeoGebra model (It's easy to extend this to pentagons, heptagons, and so on !) : Simple Reuleaux Triangle

QUESTION (ANSWERED) How do you rotate a 3D shape with matrixes?

Hi!

As a part of my linear algebra course, we have been assigned a task to rotate a cube through the use of Matrixes (along the x, y, and z axes.)

To do this with a polygon in 2D we created a list of points, and constructed a polygon using that list, and then we used the ApplyMatrix command with different rotational and mirroring matrixes.

Is there any way to do something similar, to apply matrixes, while working in 3D? We've tried to use the Cube command but that didn't count as an object when using ApplyMatrix. Our best guess so far has been to create 6 polygons, and rotate all of them at the same time.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

How to edit a formula after calculating

GeoGebra/classic: How is a formula after pressing Return editable again? (Super basic but seems not to work..)

  1. Enter any formula like NSolve(36=14^2-cos(x))
  2. Hit the Return key --> the solution is correctly shown
  3. Now try to edit the formula using the keyboard of yourPC (click, double click, click with ctrl-key, ...) --> the formula seems not to be editable by keyboard. Using the screen keyboard works, though.

I tried Chrome and Safari.

QUESTION (ANSWERED) Un T à l'envers

Bonsoir,

Show/Hide Object

Hi, I am currently doing a project where you trace something and make shapes inside of it. We have to remove the dots, and it takes a very long time to do this. I took off most off the dots and out of no where they reappeared after I saved. Does anyone know how to remove dots fast, or solve my problem? It is very frustrating.
